Brit Roadfood Comes to Brooklyn

A new British "chip shop" ("chips" are what Brits call french fries) has opened in Park Slope with a batter fried breakfast sandwich that's supposed to be good for hang-overs.  From the Daily Mail.....

The deep fry-up: New York chip shop owner creates 1,200 calorie battered sandwich with a full English breakfast filling

The calorific breakfast contains white bread, bacon, egg and mushroom encased in chip shop batter
This creation is being served in a British chippy in the heart of New York

The “British invasion” comes to Brooklyn via this “divey” pub-food duo decorated with “’80s punk memorabilia” and dispensing “cardiologist-disapproved” items like “killer fish ’n’ chips” and “seriously deep-fried” candy bars; “homesick Brits” dub it “bloody wonderful.”

The Chip Shop in Park Slope has been open for a while, at least 5 or 6 years. There's a Chip Shop on Atlantic Avenue in Cobble Hill/Brooklyn Heights also. I haven't been to either in a few years. I liked the fried Mac and Cheese there. The fish and chips are very good, but my ex-girlfriend talked me out of ever again eating the fish there because the fish varieties they use (Cod, Haddock, Plaice) are not sustainable. Oh well. The beer selection is good also.
