Brunish's, Pottstown, PA

A true Roadfood type of place. $1 dogs, $1.50 hot sausage. A hole in the wall worth a visit.

I just did a search on Pottstown and this was the first thread.  I don't think I need to search any further.

The prices have gone up a tiny bit since May 2011, but still a great bargain.  I hope nothing goes wrong and that they are open on the 28th when I'm there.

I'm bumping this thread because, like, Wow, I was there today. Having been to my share of "old established Hot dog places" over the years, what I was expecting was a passable hot dog and/or sausage" enhanced by the time warp nature of the place. (Think Hot Dog Johnny's in NJ)

What I got was the time warp (literally the same as it was 70 years ago) and nice service, but also, an OUTSTANDING Hot Sausage. In fact, not only was it delicious, but I don't think I've ever had anything quite like it. Sort of a spicy knockwurst, except slightly longer and thinner. I had two, I wish I had brought home a few extras, I am craving another one now.

They do sell them in bulk at the store, according to the on line menu. I'd love to know who makes these and if they are only available at Brunish's.  They were very coy about the source.

Oh, that would definitely warrant a sidetrack off of 422. Anybody know what time they close? I looked on their site and only saw that they open at 7:00 AM.

And they probably have some great water ice, too!

    Thanks for that mini-review, Ken!

Hi Harriet. The Google review page says they are open until 8PM. I guess you should call first if it's late in the day. 610-326-1900.

BTW, there's a nice park down by the river about 3 minutes away, a good place to eat since Brunish's is take out only. It's also a nice place for an after-lunch walk. There's a rail-trail there along the river. There's also free bike rentals at some local shops if that's of interest. Pottstown seems to be really trying hard to make things nice for visitors.
