My sister is leaving tomorrow for a week in Italy. My girlfriend is leaving Sunday for St. Thomas. I am spending Saturday night in Sheboygan. There must be something seriously wrong with me, because I'm not so sure that I am getting the short end of the stick! Just printed out my boarding pass. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

I seem to recall that the Sheboygan area is famous for something, but for the life of me I can't remember what. Sushi from Lake Michigan, perhaps? Brad

I don't know what the current official amount is here but I'll bet there's at least 6" of new powder on the lawn and roof, and the strong north wind isn't helping any. The township snowplow hasn't come by yet and my wife has to leave for work in about an hour...going to be a slow drive up to Madison! Right now I'm still planning on being there but road and weather conditions tomorrow morning will be the deciding factors. Brad

Right now, I am sitting at my hotel in Sheboygan. The weather has made me make a few changes to my itinerary, but I'm still doing lots of fun things. Safe travels to everyone and I look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!

buffetbuster Brad- You sure better hope wanderingjew doesn't see that comment! Too late! I'll have to remember to load up on a a few Brats on my trip to San Diego and Los Angeles in April! Buffetbuster, I can't believe you're on the road again this weekend- I'm still recovering from last weekend! Have a couple of butter burgers for me- Believe it or not that's something I haven't even tried yet! Although I'm "almost at pre glee club weekend weight" I have a small 43rd birthday gathering to attend this evening- cake and ice cream......gee, just what I need.

Roads were fine enough today for a trip to BBC Lighting, and a stroll across St. Paul Avenue to Sobelman's Pub. I ordered an extra burger in case Buffetbuster showed up. I was disappointed that he didn't make it, but my son enjoyed the burger. See everyone tomorrow.

I'm about to get ready to leave (camera-check. cash-check. appetite-check). Missed this morning's festivities, but am looking forward to hearing about it @ dinner. Word on the street is nocarolina, CTD & buffetbuster went somewhere *before* Benji's (Gilles?) then went to Kopp's & found no one there, so they decided to have a butterburger @ Solly's while they waited. This should not surprise anyone who has met them. :D Ann's feeling under the weather, so she won't be joining us for dinner. :( (I was gonna pick her up since I live close, but she needs her rest.) She is sorry she missed everyone, but is looking forward to getting together when she is feeling 100%.

We met up with Nocarolina, BB, and CTD and his son (John?) at Benji's for breakfast and had a great time. Good food and good company, and plenty of both! Even CTD was tolerable for being a Cub fan... Kathy (Mrs. O) had a grilled Vienna Beef dog and I had a corned beef half sandwich, a pastrami half sandwich, and a half order of hoppel poppel without onions. I'd never had it before and really liked it, and the corned beef and pastrami were very good as well, both by themselves and combined together. We were waiting at Kopp's for the others to arrive when we got a call from home saying that schedules had been moved up, and since we had to make 1 more stop on the way home we had to get going. Sorry about bailing out like that, guys - it wasn't anything you said or did. Honest! Actually, I'm surprised we were even invited to Kopp's after Kathy put ketchup on her hot dog... Feel better soon, Ann! Brad

Brad- Turner Hall sits next to the Bradley Center and there was an event going on there. None of us wanted to deal with the crowds or paying $20.00 and up for parking. BTW, it was great to meet you and Kathy at Benji's yesterday. Too bad you couldn't stick around for Kopp's, but family obligations come first. Looking forward to visiting Madison in the near future.

Make sure you let the world know when you're going to Madison, bb. In addition to the Mad-city dining scene, it is a relatively short distance to New Glarus and Monroe. Both of these small Wisconsin towns will give you numerous dining opportunities loaded with local charm, good eats in general, and artisinal cheeses and beers in particular. So good in fact, I can assure you that a significant number of Chicago and Milwaukee people would head out that way to meet you! Great seeing you on Sunday! Hope you had as much fun as we all did. Brad, That $20 parking fee was only good if you could find a place to park. The neighborhood was mobbed! The lot adjacent to Turner Hall which, when there is no event at the Bradley, is normally empty and where we usually park for about a dollar, was jam packed and obnoxiously overpriced. Everyone was coming from different places, so contacting all parties (multiple times), making an alternate decision, disseminating the information, and making it all fit into buffetbuster's travel plans ( he was flying out that evening), was, as someone later put it, a little like herding cats. Somehow we made it all work, even picking up a few folks we didn't expect along the way. All of it was thanks to MilwFoodlovers, who wasn't even there! We remembered that Jalapeno Loco was one of MFL's and chicagostyledog's fave Mexican places and that it was right across from Mitchell Field. The placement and timing was just right, allowing X1 and ChuckL, who were not part of the earlier group, to join us. Dinner was outstanding, more than making up for the disappointment (IMO) of missing out on Turner Hall. There will be other visits to Milwaukee, I'm sure, and next time I will check the NBA schedule before I suggest Turner. Buddy

Have you ever had a salad with dressing on the side or any other way??? You actually missed an exceptional meal. Jalapeno Loco specializes in regional dishes that are outside the norm for most Mexican places. Buddy

More than the food, and something you've said repeatedly, it's the company of Roadfooders! Great meeting Brad and Kathy at breakfast!

A big thanks to BuddyRoadhouse for his quick thinking and organizational skills in getting everyone to another restaurant in a timely manner. This was especially important to me, since I was leaving from that meal, directly to the airport to fly home. It was truly my pleasure to meet all the nice people and renew acquaintances with old friends ChiTownDiner and BuddyRoadhouse.

BB, it was great meeting you, too! I look forward to seeing you again for some great eats & picture taking! :) CTD, I can't believe you've never been to Kopp's. They've been there forever. The scoops are getting smaller, or I am getting older. There used to be a bowling alley across the street, Pinky's.

Stricken_detective- It was a real pleasure to meet you, too. Needless to say, I always appreciate knowing I'm not the only only one at the table taking photos. By the way, your pics turned out great! I have to admit being a little jealous of there being suck a tight knit group of Roadfooders, between the Milwaukee/Chicago contingent. I wish we had something similar here.....

Buddy - Brad and I have talked about a Madison Meet & Great. We each have our favorites, so it will be fun and difficult to narrow the list. One must stop is Hubbard Avenue Diner for their pies by the yard. I also like The Old Fashioned for their Supper Club favorites from around the state. If nothing else, if Madison is on your sauce demo schedule this year, we will make plans to join you one night. Jim
