Build a Better Meal...

Ok, this is like the similiar topic in the sandwich section. Let's have it run with the same idea as the other...one person can only add an item every three posts. With this one, I think it could get really creative. The only thing you can't come up with are sandwiches. Start out with ANY ingredient, and let's see what kind of a recipe/meal it leads too. I'll give a couple examples to better clarify what I mean.... 1st post: pan-seared scallops 2nd post: steamed broccoli 3rd post: hot, cooked vermicelli 4th post: alfredo sauce 5th post: fresh grated parmesan cheese 6th post: cracked black pepper then someone might decide that one is done and start another. That would be an idea of a recipe. Someone might want to take the route of planning a meal. 1st post: chicken-fried steak 2nd post: black-eyed peas 3rd post: mustard greens 4th post: sweet potato pie 5th post: sweet tea The possibilities are endless, just as long as you don't come up with a sandwich. Well, you could use a type of sandwich, if you're going to take the "plan the meal" route. This might be a corny idea, but I just wanted to see what kind of stuff people could come up with... with all the different tastes we have. I'll start one off.. how bout with start with 1 1/2 cups diced, cooked ham

mmmm.... now I have all kinds of ideas. depends on what kind of fresh fish. Now if I was having mahi mahi (sp?), I would take the plantains sautéed in br sugar/butter and finely chop. I would combine with (fresh, seeded) chopped tomato, lemon juice, finely chopped red onion, fresh chopped basil and cilantro. I'd grill the mahi mahi and serve the "make-shift" salsa on top... soooo, my response is... Six (6) green plantains. brown sugar 3 lbs fresh fish, cut into 3 inch piecessalsa, using the plantains

The plantains were supposed to be a featured item in the entree, not as a "topping"... Think Carribean, folks...

I was trying to make the finished product and entree, but you didn't say the main ingredient had to be plantains. What makes this topic fun is where it takes a turn and what other people come up with.
