SC - This Green Mill is a cocktail lounge. Unlikely related to the Twin Cities pizza chain. Also former hang-out for some of Chicago's finest citizens.

Great report and pics, Gyp. I definitely missed a marvelous outing with some of my favorite people.

And I also missed out on Pie Diva's Butterscotch Pie with Curry Crust !!!

Milwaukee people!  Your Doors Open weekend is September 20th-21st.

Anyone interested in putting it together?

Chicago, ours is October 18th-19th.  The Roadhouse household almost definitely will not be able to attend, due to Mrs. Roadhouse's mother's 90th birthday celebration that weekend (unless everyone wants to have a weekend in Kansas City with them!).  The Froeman-Maki household are undecided about what they're doing that weekend.

The Roadhouses will be in another part of the Dairy State that weekend; making our biennial trip to Monroe for the Cheese Days Festival.

As of those October dates, yeah we'll be in St. Joseph, MO for the MIL's 90th, followed by a few days of roadtripping to an as yet undetermined location.  Open to suggestions.

Can we make this the 'More Songs About Buildings and Food' tour?

We'll likely miss both dates. Enjoy the sites and tastes.

Just what we need, another Talking Head adding his two cents to the discussion.

Oh yeah, Cheese Days is the same weekend.  We'll definitely be there one day or the other.

Won't speak for anyone else, but as far as I'm concerned it lived a good life last fall and now deserves to rest in peace.

The problem with this tour, especially the Chicago leg, was that we were always at the mercy of others.  Waiting in line at various architectural stops and difficulties parking made for slow going.  I know we left off several food stops due to a shortage of time.  The Milwaukee day wasn't as bad, but even so, this just wasn't the best tour for any large group of people, all traveling in separate cars.

The best part is when the Curd Queen rides the parade route on the back of a trailer being pulled by a tractor!

There's some really good Artisan Cheese too.

A nice article today in our local paper about Monroe Wisconsin's Cheese Days. Recently we paid a visit and of course, went to Alp and Dell. Tony the owner, mentioned in this article, was so happy with our cheese choices he serenaded us with an impromptu Swiss yodel.
