Burger dogs, anyone selling them?

I stoped by my local beer/gas store here in north east Texas last night, hey it was Friday and I wanted to drink a few, and noticed something weird looking on their hot dog roller thingy. I always check out what they are selling. I asked what that was and the guy said "it's a burger dog". Well, I had to try one. I got some packs of mayo, onions, and relish, and used them as toppings. Hmm, not great but not bad, washed down w/ a beer. It was actually a cheeseburger dog. Anyone seen these, or even want to?? Anyone already selling them? Joe

Thanks CK, and I thought I had found something kinda new. I need to be out later at night sometimes. A better quility burger dog, made w/ ground chuck, might actually be good. Not really a dog but just shaped like one, so it will fit in a hot dog bun. Not sure how they get it to hold together though? Joe

We sold them when I owned my Seven Eleven. They came out in 1987. We had ones made by Jimmy Dean then later switched to Oscar Meyer. To me they tasted like meat loaf but were ok with a bunch of condiments. They can not be called hamburger because they do not have enough fat in them.

Thanks Mark, CK just said "for years" and you put me over 20 years behind! I guess maybe it's a good concept since it has lasted that long. I do think a good quility burger dog would be a good seller. Easy to eat while you are traveling is why I guess. Oh, so is a hot dog. Joe

There is a better option that (Amazing dogs-in NJ)-they make your hot dog round and fill the middle with chili/cheese..ect.and serve it on a hamburger bun-so good!

I believe Sysco carries them, I rank them in the Slim Jim family of quality food.

I had one at a computer show in a large exhibition center, once. I give a lot of slack to "fast food", but it was pretty bad.
