Got one this morning from my brother. What are they, you ask! Seems that on phones now, if you are on someone's speed dial and their phone is in their pants pocket, or purse, if jostled or somehow squeezed, the phone will be activated and call the person on the speed dial. This could be VERY dangerous for someone with an Elliot Spitzer/ John Edwards, ad naseaueum, type person, catching a quickie and inadvertently dialing his buddy at the NY Times, so he can listen in while the person who dialed is unaware that his grunts are going into two different ears. My wife is a Mortgage Loan officer with Wells Fargo and has gotten 3 of these recently, listened to a Real Estate agent, in one case, trash another agent. It's only time before you'll be reading about some terribly embarassing Butt call involving important pols or celeb, etc who get their carreers set back by a Butt call...Ah, progress! Heard about this yet?

I had heard of them years ago, but since the advent of automatically locking screens on phones I haven't gotten one in ages. When phones still had actual buttons, I always insisted on owning a flip phone to avoid the problem.

Evidentally newer models that aren't flip type, make it either more difficult, or people are simply forgetting to lock out, since most people yak on the damn things 24/7!

On my new one, the screen automatically shuts off (you can set it to do so anywhere from 15 seconds to never), and you first have to press the power button on top (with a fingernail, or it often doesn't even work then), and then you have to make a definite swipe down on the unlock screen button before it'll do anything. Half the time I can't even unlock it when I want to.

No but 1 of the cats called 911 yesterday on the house phone. She managed to hit the speaker phone button and then step on 911. The operator and I had a nice chat while PP laughed away.

My cat called 911 once too,but I didnt find about about it till a police officer showed up at the house a few minutes later. He didnt seem too happy about it or particularly willing to believe the kitty made the call.

My cat called my Mom early one morning on the speed dial. Needless to say, Mom almost had a heart attack, thinking it was an emergency. The cat also hit the speaker button, so I could hear her panic-unfortunately, she could hear me giggling as well.
