CI Mini Meet II- The Wrath of Kahn's

ok...couldnt resist this time....I resisted using it for the NJ tour, but HAD to let it out now!

As you might suspect, Benzee, Seafarer John, yours truly (a.k.a Hot dog Nation)are meeting at the Coney Island Restaurant in Middletown,NY again,and you all are invited to join us for talk..more talk..and a Coney Island chili dog or two! Here are the details:

We had a great time , Full trip report and photos to follow when I have a little more time .

We had a nice meet-up yesterday at Coney Island in Middletown, NY graciously hosted by Coney Island Lou. Everybody had a couple of chili dogs
(to order - you ask for "the combo") and cokes (Mrs Seafarer had a black and white milkshake). The chili sauce is excellent - it iis a little more spicy ((nutmeg?), but not much hot stuff, than the usual Hudson Valley fare. The dog itself, was very good - I'm told it was a Tobins First Prize- it was fat and juicy and had a nice snap and was grilled- not fried. The service was friendly and efficient and the place is clean.

Benzee took some pics , so I'm sure they'll be posted soon. And, lest i forget, baby Benzee is as handsome a baby as you'll ever meet up with and great company at the table.

The site – the bus depot in Middletown, NY, has undergone a drastic upgrade at the hands of its new hands on owner.
All of us – C.I.Lou, sf.john and wife Gail, Benzee and wife Sandy plus Baby Benzee (Joey) and B.Bill plus wife Ginny, had a fun time enjoying the never disappointing dogs.
I am sure that Benzee’s pictures will tell the story.

Y'know, these mini meets are good practice for the larger ones. I better get a few under my belt before the Western New Jersey Hot Dog Extravaganza.

Originally from NJ, and I lived four years at West Point, NY, I now live vicariously through these threads, wishing to join you in your trips to enjoy the "ultimate dog" experience.

I love all your reports and miss those delights, of my youthful years in Hunterdon County, NJ. I have been here, near Sacramento, nearly 20 years and sad to say, the best I can get is a decent dog, at Costco,$1.50 with a refillable drink. Such a cheap date! LOL

Oh, in nearby Carmichael, there is a place called Weinerworks, (no link, sadly,) that has some very good foot long dogs, with any and all the toppings one could wish for.

Nothing like NJ, though.

Without knowing it, Costco may be the best and only major hot dog chain in the country. The $1.50 1/4 lb. Hebrew National Dog is one of the best hot dog buys in the land.

It's a top shelf dog, competitive with any, and the refillable drink is certainly not to be scoffed at. Now, if they could only put their Hot Dog counters out on a deck overlooking a lake or some mountains. Well, then we'd have a road trip, wouldn't we?
