On Wednesday, I received a call from CNN, New York. They're going to film a program about Hot Dog University which will be aired this summer. They'll film the July 13th & 14th class. The class will be in Milwaukee and the "Behind-the Cart" training will be at an event in Racine, WI. CNN will notify me next week to confirm arrangements, since I will be out of the United States from June 24th-July 12th. CSD Busines Instructor www.hotdogu.com

Thank DD & John. We're doing a road tour of Ireland. We'll fly into Dublin and head south along the coast as far around the country as time permits. Our only reservations are for the first and last nights, which will make this an adventure vacation. We're into the out doors and plan on hiking, biking, and kayaking. No hotels, expensive meals, or shopping. We'll stay in private homes and B&B's and eat where the locals eat. CSD

That is the coolest CSD! A trip to Ireland and a nice bit of TV exposure when you come back. Just shows what an overnight sensation can be like after working your dream for years. Congratulations, I can't wait to see it.

Thanks Jim. I'm no longer vending hot dogs. My role is now business educator for Hot Dog University. I still keep my finger on the pulse of the business, whenever an opportunity arises. This Friday, I'll be selling dogs from 11am-2pm at the Metropawlis Pet Boutique & Dog Bakery in the Historic Third Ward for "Take You Dog to Work Day." The store will be offering free Tale Ale Pale "Dog Beer" and I'll be giving free Vienna Beef Pups to all four legged furry friends. Part of our proceeds will be donated to the Milwaukee Humane Society. I haven't golfed in years. However, we may do some golfing while in Ireland. CSD

Thanks CK. We've wanted to visit Ireland for years. The original plan was to tour England, Ireland, and Scotland. We decided Ireland was worth a trip by itself. CSD

Greetings to all from Ireland. WK, I'll give you a call when I return. Hope all is well with everyone stateside. The weather here has been rainy every day, but the sun comes out once in a while. In a nutshell: 1. The people are great 2. The food is fabulous 3. The beer and whisky can't be beat 4. The music is wonderful 5. The hot dogs are mealy 6. I love driving twisty roads on the wrong side. We'll be in Galway for the next 5 nights and then it's back to the US. The water in this area has crypto, so one must be careful when drinking and eating. For the hell of it, we decided to eat a snack at McDonald's for lunch. The food tastes exactly the same as it does in the United States. It must be the additives they use in the meat to create that McDonald flavor pattern. It's cheaper to have a beer than a Coke here and there's hundred of different snacks and candies to be had. Take Care. CSD Born in Chicago Escaped to Wisconsin Enjoying the Emerald Isle

Mark, Are you carrying a laptop or have you discovered the many internet cafes around the Emerald Isle? We found it was cheaper than making a telephone call back to the States whenever we wanted to let the family know we were alright. Five nights in Galway? You're a brave man! One night was enough for us and then we stuck to the smaller cities and rural areas. As I recall there is a Hot Dog joint near McDonough's Fish & Chips. I was torn about stopping there and checking it out. Ultimately I passed it up. Looking forward to hearing a full report on your trip and seeing plenty of pictures! Buddy

Buddy, we're using Galway only as a base to tour the Connemara region for hikes in the forest. I use internet cafes since my Apple Notebook with Airport Express is useless out here. I also have Traveler Phone service with my cell. 99 cents/minute. The water in this area is undrinkable and full of crypto, just like Milwaukee back in the early 90's. I understand we're dining at a fried chicken joint with MilwFoodlovers and some other Roadfooders on Saturday, July 21. Hope to see you there. I'll bring pictures, videos, stories, and your books. Take Care. CSD

The Connemara Peninsula is a beautiful spot. We stayed at a place called the "Wilderness B&B" just outside Connemara National Park. The Twelve Bens (mountains) were visible (on a clear day, that is) from the front yard. We drove around the entire peninsula, spending time in Clifden, Ballyconneely, and Roundstone. Give yourself a minimum of a half day to wander around Connemara National Park. As I recall there are three different hiking trails you can follow, all reflecting the different terrains within the park. Hope you and Nina are both well and enjoying the trip. See you on the 21st. Buddy

One word (or picture): You'll never have to warm up another VCR--or remember to set it. My life has been changed by this gadget and for only $99 (or get something equivalent from your cable company for about $5 a month). _____________________________________________________________________________________ Anyway, I checked out the HDU website. If you teach 'em to make food that looks that good you are doing a national service and I hope CNN recognizes that. Congrats!
