COLLEGE FOOTBALL - 2014 - 2015

It's that time of year again! America's Greatest Sport gets ready to roll, (NO, not Roll Tide).
It'll be interesting to see how the new playoff system turns out.
How will storied programs with new era coaches do? - TX & PSU, USC for example.
On a sad note: There's a possibility that Grambling will be dropped from the Bayou Classic!
Forget the Game. What would the Classic be without "The Battle of the Bands"!
Will Kiffin destroy 'Bama like he did Tennessee & USC? Stay tuned folks!
Will FSU's QB stay out of jail long enough to have another shot at the Heisman? News at 11!
Who'll get fired mid-season? Could it happen in Michigan?
Will players get paid for their swag sales?
Union or no union?
It's going to be another exciting Season.
Your thoughts???????

I'm a Boston College fan. At OCS our platoon commander was a BC man, and when we screwed up, we had to do pushups while screaming' "Eagles fly higher". It didn't bother me, even though I had to do more pushups than most of the other candidates. The other guys hated it, because most of them were from Texas A&M.

BC, if they have a good season, will be due to a superior work ethic and good coaching, because the best high school seniors seem to be going to southern schools. Same problem at Syracuse.

I noted on the list of the top 100, a very high percentage were going to college in their home state, and northern high schools don't get many onto that top 100 list.

A union is a bad idea, at least IMO. Free tuition and fees, after "normal" graduation, though, would be fair. BC does a good job graduating players, but not so much at some of the other schools. The men who give it all, but don't get NFL contracts, should not go out with the trash. Get them graduated, even if it is a year or two late.

Should players get paid for autographs, and an appearance fee at alumni gatherings? Why not? When a jersey is sold with their name on it??? Why not.

Who will be the first College Coach to be fired once the season starts?
    My Guess? Charlie Weis, Kansas.

Ohio state already fired their band director. Does that count?

The band gave "dotting the i" a whole new meaning off the field.

I think you can pretty much knock off Ohio State from the top 10 with their QB Braxton Miller being out for season.

Well, Texas A&M is not missing a beat without Johnny Football. His replacement broke his single game passing record in his first game against whom we thought was supposed to be a good team.

It is really gong to be interesting with the whole union thing. I think Title IX is going to keep the union thing from happening. If it doesn't, I'd love for a school or even better a whole conference to pull a U of Chicago and do away with their scholarship program. I think that the reverberations would be huge.

Don't you mean "UCF" is playing in Dublin? We can stuff the banger in a roll and call it an Irish Brat. Kill the Pimm's Cup and order a good pint. That's not all that different from your average tailgate!

Ohio State, with it's redshirt freshman quarterback beat a tough Navy team by 17 points today. I'm betting Greymo's granddaughter isn't happy. Of course, she could have chosen to play lacrosse at Ohio State instead of at the Naval Academy.

Louisville opens its ACC career against MIami Monday nite here in Kentuciana. They brought back Rick Petrino after he walked out on two jobs, and messed with a staffer at another. I have no respect for U of L football. Wish Charlie Strong had not defected to Texas.

Al, I think you mean Bobby Petrino. I understand how you could combine the names of Petrino and Pitino. Off the field/court, they're both philanderers.

If the Alabama - West Virginia game was any indication of how the season is going to go, I'm glad my blood pressure is good. Especially coming off watching that slaughterhouse Michigan - Appalachian State game, I wasn't sure I could take it. Which is what I love about college football, so it's all good.

The state of Iowa almost lost to two FCS/1-AA teams today as UNI took Iowa to the fourth quarter and North Dakota State blew past the Cyclones in Ames.

Houston inaugurated their new stadium with a bad loss to Texas San-Antonio, the Roadrunners nearly shut out the Cougars and kept a goose egg in the scoreboard until late in the fourth quarter. Baylor will open a new stadium with a blowout of SMU tomorrow night.

That "Junior" college is the 2nd or 3rd largest university in the country.

I'm disappointed that Wisconsin lost to LSU after leading most of the game. Then looking at the box score and the dismal passing stats I wonder if Wisconsin made a mistake throwing over their long starting QB in Stave for McEvoy, an itinerant QB from other schools.

I don't even know who was playing at the Georgia Dome on Saturday, but I had the misfortune of working in downtown Atlanta when it let out.  It took me two hours to drive the 1.5 miles from Williams st. to the Phillips Arena.

Don't you just hate getting caught up in something you have nothing to do with? Two weeks ago on Thursday I drove downtown to Minneapolis for a luncheon meeting. I drove into the parking garage I normally park in but didn't realize until after I entered that the Minnesota Twins were playing an afternoon matinee game. Instead of an anticipated timed $5 parking charge for an hour lunch I had to prepay for a $15 event charge.
