Actually Bypass 4 is a rather long road but I believe this location is near Jungle Jim's. There is an area that is being highly developed with a Walmart and a SuperTarget and that's where this Culver's is going.

I sincerely wish that Culver's would expand into Tennessee and preferably Knoxville, TN. I always enjoyed them in Milwaukee. We race in Brainerd, MN and I noticed that they just opened a very attractive restaurant there. I always have enjoyed their burgers and their shakes are excellent. I hope their rapid expansion does not harm their quality. Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN

Yesterday we stopped for lunch while running the Saturday errand run. Janet likes their Reuben Sandwich. I decided to try the Walleye Dinner. It was ok but I like Catfish better. The price is a bit over what I would normally pay for a lunch at $8.89. I'll return to the Pork Tenderloin or Double Bacon Cheeseburger (jumbo) next time. So far it seems that Culver's is holding up it's quality control.

I got the "Mayor's Usual" for lunch today at the Corydon,IN store. That's a Pork Tenderloin Sandwich (Value basket)- Breaded and fried as opposed to being grilled. Add double grilled onions and double tomato slices (locally grown tomatoes!!)with the 1000 Island dressing sauce and the usual FF and Root Beer all for $5.99. This is one very nice lunch from a drive-thru. Everything was hot and fresh ! So far they seem to be holding up on their end of the quality question. We do the custard now and then also!!

OMG, I absolutely (sp) LOVE Culver's! I used to live in central IL, where I had access to two of them. Yes, I said TWO. I know you're jelous now. LOL! Now that I live in PA there's not too many around, if any. And I have to say that I REALLY REALLY miss Culver's. They have the 2nd best ice cream I've ever tasted. The 1st ice cream in my book comes from a place in Okinawa, Japan so it's not like I get to taste it often. LOL! Culver's has the 2nd most creamiest ice cream in the WORLD! You'll love it if you try it! ~* Jen *~

Hi, Al-The Major- Bowen! Yes, I LOVE Culver's! I wish there was one as close to me as a McDonald's (a mere 15 minute drive, if that). LOL! No, I'm not on active duty. My husband is an active duty Marine though. He's currently serving his 5 year out of 8 in. He's a recruiter right now. ~* Jen *~ PS ~ Thanks for welcoming me.

I think Culvers is unique and I hope they end up in Knoxville, TN someday. Their burgers and ice cream is exceptionally very good. The first one I ever tried was in Milwaukee and since then I have had then in many cities. My latest one was in Brainerd, MN. they did us a very good job. Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN

It is, however, not within spitting distance of Jungle Jim's :-) Several miles away, probably a 10 minute drive, I'd estimate.

I don't know if I want to make this a custard debate, but Culver's is by no means the best of it's kind...I'd have to go with the Detective & his vote for Leon's. There is no such thing as bad frozen custard, but the best frozen custard is heavenly. Leon's is THE BEST. I've got another good frozen custard/burger joint in my neighborhood...but I regularly drive across town for Leon's.

Kools, I won't argue the merits of Leon's as I have never had the pleasure of their product, but considering that I have a Culver's 12 miles away and about 500 miles to Leon's, you see my situation. We don't have many custard stands in Southern Indiana, so Culver's kinda has minimum competition. However, they do seem to be holding their own up in the area around Baraboo,WI where it seems that everyone who eats in the place has to have some custard also !!

In East Tennesse, we do not have frozen custard. Just Dairy Queen and others like it. I sure did enjoy Culver's in Milwaukee and Brainerd, MN. They have many other locations. I sure do hope they can keep their quaility up to our standards. Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN

I certainly mean no disrespect to Culvers. I visit them here on a fairly regular basis. If I'm in a neighborhood without another decent food choice...I'll go for a butterburger...and their custard is just fine. It's just not the religious experience that the taste of Leon's is.

Kools, Now I do understand that! An interesting observation though. In Wisconsin when we visited the Culver's there most customers got some form of the custard either with or just after having a sandwich 'meal'. Here in Southern Indiana I haven't seen that many folks get custard either with or without other food. It may be just the time of day that I happen to be in the place. I'll ask the owner the next time I visit.

I tried a Butterburger for the second time tonight. It just doesn't do it for me. I like a toasted or grilled bun on a burger but they just seem to spread butter on it and warm it up. Now I also tried there tenderloin, while not the very best that I have had it was a good one! The peanut butter malt that I had was the creamiest malt ever! Now I have to go lay down, I ate to much........... Butch

I've got another good frozen custard/burger joint in my neighborhood...but I regularly drive across town for Leon's. I'm a girl. What do you have in your neighborhood? Oscar's? If so, their food is very good too, and their custard is second only to Leon's. I worked there during a summer in college. Very nice owners. I do enjoy Culver's food--whoever had the bun that was not toasted, you have not had a ButterBurger & Craig Culver would be upset to hear it. The bun HAS to be toasted. The burgers usually have nice crispy edges, the onion rings are battered, not breaded, and the frenchy fries are the crinkle kind that are absolutely delicious too. Mmmmmmm, Culvers!!! Their custard leaves a film on the roof of my mouth. But if they are having a good flavor like Chocolate Covered Strawberry, Trufflelicious, or Count Chocula (which is chocolate chips & coconut flakes in vanilla custard), I will get a Kids Meal, which is a smaller cheeseburger, hamburger, hotdog or grilled cheese, a smaller amount of the fries or rings, a drink, and a scoop. The drink comes in a collectible cup, and has Scoopy, their mascot, on them. I like their Root Beer. A LOT! It's still a lot of food, but you have to pace yourself. I would also recommend the Buffalo Chicken tenders. And during the summer they have Italian Ices, which includes a berry flavor. Just curious, for those not in Wisconsin, does your Culvers offer deep fried cheese curds?

My Culver's was probably one of the first in Illinois, yes we have cheese curds and what I like the manager specials that you have to see on the board inside, sometimes they have pot roast or other things not normally carried. As far as custard, there is a place in DeKalb, Illinois, Ollies, that has wonderful custards, my favorite being the black cherry.

I just got back from a trip to Door county. I stopped at a couple of Culvers enroute from Chicago. I was hoping that they were still selling the walleye but according to the manager, they stopped about a month ago and will resume sometime next year. He did indicate that they were considering selling them year around. I had a single cheese and a Atlantic Cod at one location and I had the double burger with cheese at another. All the sandwiches were good. I got a order of onion rings. They were real and fairly tasty. Everyone I stopped at was extremely clean and the service level was high. Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN

the thing that always impresses meabout Culver's is the service. This chain and Chick-fil-A consistantly please me where ever I stop in. I love the cheese curds, pork t-loin, and caramel milkshakes.
