Cadbury Mini Creme Eggs

OK, I've just found the perfect Easter treat - the mini creme eggs. The large eggs were always just a bit too much for me - too sweet. The minis - perfect creme-to-chocolate ratio .

    See's has a St. Patty's Day Potato:

    It actually looks pretty good.

Also, there's a new Cadbury Creme Egg this season, it's an orange flavored filling:

I haven't tried the mini ones yet, they sell them in little egg cartons of a dozen and I'm afraid to commit myself to that many.

Who's hiding the Peeps? I got my ashes on the skull a week and a half ago for some reason. Go figure. I also notice the ubiquitous fish fry, even to the point of Mickey who's not the mouse selling two Filet-O-Fish sammys for $3, and bead necklaces were inexplicably flying all over New Orleans the Tuesday before last, too. So where's the peeps? They're great in coffee, and supposed to be out and about if I'm not mistaken.

I have found the mini-malted robin eggs at our local Dollar Tree. Check them out if you have one.

BUM - My peeps have been sliced open for about 3 weeks now, getting stale and almost ready to eat.

I like the new orange creme minis too. I used to love the big eggs but WAY too much sugar for me.

OMG .. 3 weeks????? I had no idea I could wait that long. I thought after two days they wouldn't get any staler .. Any other secrets to getting them stale? I have tried on the dash of the car but here in Florida they get gooey from heat instead of stale.

To get your Peeps stale quickly, try cutting a slit in the plastic, then placing the whole package in the freezer overnight.

Then take them out (still in the package) and let them come back to room temperature.

    It's basically "freeze drying" them.
