CajunKing invades Hunt's Seafood in Dothan, AL Fri, 11/28/08 11:28 PM (permalink)
For a nice after Thanksgiving Day Meal, I planned to meet up with Iqdiva (Ms Susan) and her husband (Mr Paul) at Hunt's Seafood in Dothan, AL.

http://www.huntsrestaurant.com/

Hunt's Seafood Restaurant and Oyster Bar
177 Campbellton Hwy (US 231)
Dothan, AL

I arrived at about 5:15pm (Dinner was to be at 5:30pm) and arriving right behind me was Iqdiva and Mr Paul.

We got there just in time for shortly after we got seated the place started to really fill up quickly, and in no time there was a 30-45 minute wait.

It was good to see Susan and Paul again, it had been too long since we last shared a meal together. There was a short discussion on what we should order, but I think we all had made up our minds ahead of time.

Iqdiva had a dozen raw oysters

Mr Paul had a dozen too, just look at the size of that oyster on his saltine. it overcovered the whole saltine.

I had decided on an order of Fried Crab Claws

As we munched or sucked down our appetizers and a quick trip to the salad bar our entrees were VERY quick to come out.

Mr Paul ordered the shrimp and scallop platter (either grilled or blackened I can not remember which) with loaded baked potato

Iqdiva ordered half order of shrimp and a stuffed crab with a naked potato

I ordered the shrimp and scallop platter with cheese grits

Mr Paul enjoyed his oysters and his platter.
Iqdiva enjoyed her oysters and stuffed crab and shrimp

My platter was really good, Hunt's say they have a special bater and I believe it. The scallops were lightly breaded and tender sweet.
The shrimp were really good too. The cheese grits.... i should have went with the loaded baked potato.

There was plenty of good conversation, and we wven made a special toast in honor of those Roadfooders who could not join us.
(Ann, they REALLY loved their oysters )

Time for dessert, I was full and was trying to sae room for the last piece of Chocolate Chess Pie back in Mexico Beach so I didnt order any.

Mr. Paul order the Snickers Pie

(eat your heart out Buffetbuster )

The evening was over to quickly and with a 90 minute drive back to the beach we said are parting goodbyes in the misting rain.

It was a wonderful meal shared with good roadfood friends. I want to Thank Iqdiva and Mr Paul for their generosity, and friendship. Dinner was a pleasure to share with you both.

ps Thanks fro the boiled 'Bama Peanuts

pps (sorry Mr Paul) ROLL TIDE!!

Don, what a wonderful report ! Paul & I loved being with you for dinner Darling . I'm so glad you made it back to your Dad's alright . I was worried about the rain and the Thanksgiving holiday traffic .
Thank you for for " ROLL TIDE " dear friend ... I am praying for a 'BAMA victory against AUBURN today . Keep us in your thoughts at 2:30 today . I'll be home watching the IRON BOWL and Paul & the guys at the plant will be closely following the game there . I promise that I will be sweet & gracious in our victory ( I won't throw the RAMMER JAMMER cheer at Mr. Paul ) . But,now if AUBURN wins Mr.Paul will be sweetly overbearing in their victory !

You're so welcome for the boiled peanuts Don . I hope that they weren't too salty !
Thank you so much for just being with us last night Darling .I can't tell you how much we loved seeing you and enjoying such a delicious dinner and fellowship .Don, Paul & I value your friendship as a great blessing and are always your RoadFood Friends .

Our cold Oatmeal just didn't photograph well !!

It is so nice to read of a good meeting like this one. For those of you who haven't had the Pleasure of Susan and Paul's company, you have yet to experience true Southern Hospitality. Don, Janet, myself, and the Adjudicator family have shared that experience and I believe all of us are in agreement that Miss Susan is Scarlett O'Hara personified (The Kindly version of that Southern image!) and Paul could easily fit the image of the Southern gentleman as he cares for his lovely wife!
We are looking forward to seeing all of you again at the Memphis gathering in a couple of months.

You bet. Rinda went to Montgomery for the holiday anyway & won't be back until tomorrow. Rather than spending 4 days with the inlaws; I elected to stay home.

Oh my gosh-before looking at the pictures, I read the menu.I would be in seafood heaven with all the choices, and could personally spend $100.00 myself! Bob loves crab cakes and fried shrimp, so he would be a happy guy( not a big seafood eater)and myself, well, oysters every which way, fried clam strips, fried crab claws, scallops, shrimp,grouper-oh my!!Glad you all had a good time.

It is a basic Kodak EasyShare C633, I think I paid $109 for the Camera, Camera Bag and Kodak photo printer/dock about 3 years ago for Christmas. It is super easy to use, and usually takes fairly good pix, except when I don't steady my hands.

CK: Upgrade to a Canon image stabilizer for about $200. I got a Canon SD 850 IS. Takes great pics and when you shake, it don't.
