It always amazes me when I mention a good place to eat in Panama City and she has never heard of it orhas never been.

I told her about J.R.'s Ribshack and she wanted to go, so off we went.

1/4 chicken (white meat) and 2 ribs with spicy Brunswick stew and smashed potato salad. (I added the pepper)

sliced pork and brisket juicy and smokey, they way it ought to be

Granny's 1/4 chicken dinner with cole slaw and porky green beans

The service was excellent, and the food top notch. Granny couldn't believe she had lived only 3 miles from this palce and had never tried it. She wants to go back before I head north.

We spent the day driving around Panama City - St Andrews - Panama City Beach. Often we commented on how my grandfather would never believe his eyes if he were alive. He died before the boom hit that made Panama City Beach the spring break capitol it became.

It was odd seeing the difference between Panama City and Panama City Beach, they are two totally different worlds.

After a long day of riding she was ready to head home (and the fact that her boyfriend was getting off work and soon would be home)

So after I dropped her off I headed for Mexico Beach, but I was hungry and looking for something to eat.

Sea Breeze BBQ - Callaway, FL (Tyndall Parkway by the ACE hardware)

Home of the World Famous "The Pile"

The Trailer

The Pit and the man working the pit

Now in all my years of bbqing I NEVER thought of wearing swimming goggles while manning the pit. It keeps the smoke out and you can see clearly what you are doing. BRILLIANT!!!

The Menu

I ordered a bbq sausage sandwich and of course the world famous "The Pile"

BBQ Sausage sandwich (using a locally made smoked sausage), smoked and then put into a bbq sauce bath

THE WORLD FAMOUS "THE PILE"

The sausage had a good snap to it, spiced just right and the bbq sauce made it all come together. This one a great sandwich, which I scarfed down.

"THE PILE" - what you see here is a 9" by 9" styrofoam to go container, stacked three layers high with pigsicles (single bone & meat) I counted 14 ribs. They were done perfectly not fall off the bone, but fall off the bone with the slightest tug.

The sauce is a sea breeze original sauce and is a mixture of a TN sweet and a mild vinegar based sauce. So you got the sweet but then also the zing.

ALL IN ALL - I totally enjoyed them.

I was totally full and headed for home.

CajunKing, That "Pile" looks outragous! And I would also say that it is the deal of the century. Thanks for the great report.

I'll take the 1/2 chicken and a beef sandwich from the Sea Breeze BBQ..
(1/2 chicken for less than 7 bucks; nice!)

Of course, wish there were beef ribs... but I guess the demand is not enough...

nice part 2 report, cajun king!!
