California Avocado Festival This Weekend
Thu, 09/30/04 7:13 PM
( permalink)
The 18th Annual California Avocado Festival is Friday thru Sunday, Oct. 1st thru 3rd. It features the world's biggest bowl of guacamole, booths with avocado ice cream, contests for avocado recipes and growing, and much more. I went last year and it was a lot of fun! It's in Carpinteria, between Ventura and Santa Barbara, CA. The festival is free, lots of music too. Sunday the modern flamenco jazz group is playing----Benise. They are worth hearing. Hope to see some of you there! http://www.avofest.com/index.html PS----this is the Avocado Festival that they showed on Food Network's Festivals series last year.

We made it to this festival a couple 3 times and really enjoyed it. Speaking of avocados we had been paying as much as 2 bucks apiece since moving to the East coast. Recently I have been able to buy them form Costco for about 78 cents apiece! They are imported from S. America, Ecuador I think. Nice big ripe Hass one that are really tasty. MikeS.
