California trip to meet an old friend that I never met.

My family had the pleasure of spending a few days with Ed ( Edsails ) in California. Ed planned a few meals and outings for me and my family. Mollie had a friend from Seattle to enjoy Knotts  farm and Disneyland. We had some good hot crisp chicken at Mrs Knotts Chicken restaurant at knotts berry farms. The chix was good, they need to work on the sides. Mollie was all through with ridding the roller coasters with her friend by Tuesday. It was time to meet the man I have known for years on Roadfood. Ed planned Dim Sum, this was something I have been looking forward to. We had a great meal trying all the different Chinese small treasures of goodness. This is the bakery we stopped at for Macarons, no diets at this place. The Macarons were to die for, it was a great ending to a great lunch with Ed. Ed has a few pictures to post along with a few of mine.

I had a great time meeting Bill, Joyce and Mollie. We had BBQ pork buns:

    Shrimp paste on sugarcane

    And shui mai

We also got a plate of really good roast duck, which Bill is ready to eat.....

It probably is. The guy looks like someone who hung around on Pequonnock Street in Bridgeport.

    Ed and pwnchef,

Fantastic photos.  That shrimp is making me very hungry right now.  Are you two planning on being in Charlotte for the bus tour in October?

P.S.  I'm thrilled the Gahanna crew will be in Charlotte!

    Cheers,
    Danny

I figured with an screen name of Edsails it was only a matter of time that I was invited sailing. Ed is no low roller, I expected a 50 or 60 ft sail boat. We headed to Long beach, I looked out at all the large vessel's, wondering what one was Ed's. We stopped, I looked up ad saw the biggest ship I have ever seen........

Ed said take her out for a spin and put me at the helm.......this is the vessel.

    This is the vessel:

Ed, set us up with a private tour with the Commodore of the Queen Mary. It was a fun tour with a great guy who loves what he does.

Very nice pictures and descriptions! Very nice-looking family. Mollie looks like a little doll with that blouse! Still envious of my missing a chance to tour the QM. Maybe someday.

Very nice pictures and write-up.  It is always fun to meet up with other roadfooders when traveling.  I still remember the first time I met with Chris (ayersian) in Connecticut for pizza at Pepe's - it was a though we had known each other for years.  Glad you all had a great time.

It's amazing how grownup Mollie is now. Almost a young lady. Seems like yesterday she was just a little girl. Did she retire her seal, I think it was? How old is she now, 12, 13, 14?

You make me smile.Judging from the pictures, I would have thought you were quite the iron hand ....but I guess NOT....  Rather a soft touch like I am. I must admit I don't think I could deny Mollie her Sealy either. I think it's sweet that she still carries him with her on trips. I'm single so I figure I'm entitled to a stuffed animal at night. I can tell you that I'm devoted to Mr. Moose (a Pillow Pal).

Joe, It was one of those things where I think we all felt comfortable immediately.

Harriet, James (one of the owners of Capital Seafood who is on the picture with them) commented on how lovely Mollie looked and how much he liked the dress. It was the perfect thing for her to wear!

Joe's Italian Ice was a good way to end the day. And popular------you would have thought that Mickey Mouse came down the street just for some ice!

The capper was the fireworks----it was just nice to stand and watch the show from the hotel.
