Trick question there? Weve been to Papa murphy's a couple times and it wasnt too bad. The prices are actually pretty good and the pies are better than what youd get in the frezzer section I tried something different. After putiting the pizza stone in, I cranked up the broiler for about 5 min. Then turned it down to 500 and put the pizza on the stone. It did a nice job on the crust.

Personally I love the convienience factor of Papa Murphy's. Far better than any frozen pizza in the grocery store, half the time I just get cheese so I can add toppings myself for the kids. And in my neck of the woods, the pizza places outright suck. I probably hit it up for an easy dinner once every two weeks.

We have purchased the 'unbaked' pizza at Costco twice. Due to the size of our range at home we found we must cut the pie in half to allow it to fit our oven. (that's a minus rating in my book). Also, we can purchased a 'baked pizza' of the same materials and size at the Costco Snack Bar for the same price ($9.95), ready-to-eat. That also contributes to my lack of wanting the 'undone' version.

We've also had Papa Murphys 2 times. The price is the best aspect, the flavor is also good. But both times we thought it was quite greasy, don't know if that was caused by the overabundance of cheese they pile on. Shortly after eating both times we looked at each other and thanked our lucky stars we have more than one bathroom at home!

The potentially dubious concept of take-and-bake pizza has been discussed earlier here somewhere. A couple of posters pointed out that a major reason for places selling uncooked pizzas was that it is a dodge to circumvent food stamp rules--that if it is not prepared (in the sense that it's baked) then you can buy it with food stamps. Given the 'stimulus package' that is reversing many of the 1996 welfare reforms, I wouldn't be surprised to see more of these take-and-bake shops springing up.

I personally like take and bake pizza. Papa Murphy's is the mosty well known but there are a few others around. I like the aspect that I can cook the pizza to my specified crustiness. Most pizza joints don't cook the crust enough resulting in a soggy, sloppy mess. I like mine crispy and well browned. Like what you get at Lombardi's. David O.

Do you get to top the pizza yourself at take & bakes, or do they top it there? I would love to see a place that allows you to top your own pizza.

You might be able to buy unbaked pizzas in the deli at a grocers all day long but Im willing to bet that Papa Murphy's cant or wont take food stamps. Id rather see a food stamp user buy an unbaked pizza than tbones and lobster. That angers me every time I see it. In the days before that card Id bet the majority were diverted. I was behind this lady with 4 kids and 2 full sjopping carts. She tried to use her sister card. Due to the circumstances they asked for her ID. She started screaming and hollering that she new more about the FS laws than the cashier. She was the 4th generation to live off them! Its too bad that the dept of agriculture cant set up a special FS store. All they could get would be surplus garins and dairy along with ground meat and chicken. Its a real downer while we struggle to live off my samll VA disability and see people that get 6oo bux in food stap\mps at whack. Watch the stuff they buy that I put back because its not in the budget!

I would love to see a place that allows you to top your own pizza. i don't know of any take & bakes that allow that, but my local papa murphy's builds pizzas to order in front of the customer just like a subway sandwich shop, and they ask questions and accept directions :) imho it's as good as topping one yourself and your hands stay clean :)

We love papa murphy's! We like our crust crispy and our cheese a little browned so baking to at home is ideal - we do not have many pizza choices where I live and this is the best and better than frozen. Never tried take and bake from a grocery store cause they are pre-made so you are stuck with the toppings - I could buy cheese and add my own toppings but if I am going to do that then I could just as well make homemade pizza!
