Can there be breakfast BBQ?

Regarding the German influences specifically fried steak, was the milk gravy simply that (cream tightened roux, seasoned with S&P) or was it tweaked with bacon or sausage for some fat flavor?

Is it really all about the meat??

For chicken fried steak the gravy includes some of the grease from the frying of the meat.

As to your topic, the answer is yes. Many's the time I've made breakfast of some pulled pork or brisket, or ribs from the previous night's dinner.

Couldn't a nice hash be made from a BBQ'ed (sp?) meat such as the aforementioned brisket?

Most definitely! I've been known to bbq a brisket flat for the sole purpose of making hash. pb

While on vacation a couple of years ago I smoked some breakfast sausage and grilled some onions, and used them for sausage gravy the next morning:

On Alton Brown's most recent roadtrip show, he persuaded a cook in a tiny cafe in Mississippi to dump a ladle full of her BBQ beef tips (or maybe it was pork?) onto a stack of pancakes for breakfast. The whole crew agreed that it was the best dish they had on the entire trip. Looked pretty good to me.

Here in Schertz at BG's and Bill Miller's BBQ you can get brisket breakfast tacos, and barbacoa tacos at Culebra's.
I guess it's more of a Texas thing, but you could do the same with left over brisket at home.

Both the brisket and barbacoa tacos come on flour tortillas
    with the meat inside.

I have here, in front of me, A Real American Breakfast by Cheryl Alters Jamison & Bill Jamison. They suggest making barbecued-brisket hash for breakfast.

A couple of fried eggs on top, and Bob's your uncle!

For me there is not too many things that beat throwing in some pulled pork into scrambled eggs during the last 30 seconds.
Make sure the pork has been reheated....scramble up some (4-6) eggs & throw in the pork right at the end.
I have had this with beans the morning after a big BBQ at the house...just want to go back to bed afterwards.

The Goode Company (the one across from the regular BBQ place) in Houston does great BBQ breakfasts on the weekend.

    I always get the quail.
