I think your question was answered by others, but there are several different Serbian restaurants in Milwaukee.  Our favorite, Ilija's Place, recently closed.  We would always order a burek in advance when going.  Their Serbian burek was a phyllo wrapped pie, with meat, cheese, spinach, etc. as a filling.
 
On a previous cruise we mentioned to a Serbian crew member that we loved Serbian food back home. She was surprised by our good feelings towards Serbia (usually only hearing negatives) and started to melt when we discussed burek.  She had a food-gasm thinking about the burek her mother makes for her when she returns home.

JRPfeff Yes, "it" had a special purpose. They postulate that "it" directed sailors to the "professional" district of Pompeii as they entered the city from the port. "It" is pointed towards the bordello that we toured.
That may be the most accommodating public works project in history.
JRPfeffPie Diva - My mistake, there's no need to crop. That wasn't you, it was a hot Italian babe.
So, will there be pie at the funeral?

A note about our cruise ship. We cruised on the maiden voyage of the Carnival Sunshine which had just undergone a $155 million makeover. My naval friends called this a "shakedown" cruise for good reason. But despite some inconveniences with work not being quite done, we had a fantastic time and loved the ship. One of our loves was the Neapolitan-style pizzas that were prepared and served on-board 24/7. These pizzas were a huge improvement from the pizza we had on previous Carnival cruises.

After our pizza at del Presidente we were quite full and I had a buzz after drinking 500ml of house wine. Using the skills we learned from The Contingent and knowing the pizza oven was on the ship, we decided on take-out pizza from Di Matteo and have it reheated onboard. Each of the pizzerias had a carry-out display case. The server didn't understand English, but he understood me pointing at each item in the case and holding up one finger.

 
The restaurant is known for its fried foods too, as evidenced by the stain they left on the pizza box.

 
We didn't know what we ordered, I think one is a fried rice ball and the other a pasta and meat fritter.

 
We asked the on-board pizza guys to re-warm our pizza in their oven. It turned out to be a thrill for them to see real Neapolitan pizza and we shared a slice with them so they could compare the products. We ended up liking the sauce used on the ship better, but the crust from the Naples pizzeria was exceptional. It was soft at first bite, almost the texture of a risen donut, but had pull and was chewy after that. It almost sounds impossible.

That's it for Naples. I never would have thought of doing something like this before my time at Roadfood.com. It made for a really special and memorable day for Bobbius and me.

When I did the tour in Pompeii, the guide continually pointed out the numerous ceramic examples of the porno the folks of the village seem to enjoy.  The remaining housing structures had lots of them.  They sold lots of books containing that.  It is not surprising that they had bordellos.

When in Monaco, Pie Diva and I always have the largest yacht in the harbor.

Monte Carlo looks exactly like the pictures I've seen. The blue structures along the harbor in the center of the photo are grandstands set up for the Grand Prix.

 
I wasn't planning on posting about our day in Monte Carlo, but I became inspired while watching the Monaco Grand Prix this morning. Pie Diva and I took a guided walking tour of the race course while in Monte Carlo. It was great timing for the tour because they were already preparing the course for the race.

It's not a restaurant but a Serbian owned tavern, Moonshine Pub and Grill, that offers some Serbian dishes.
Petar used to be a partner of Nada at the Carriage Café in Cudahy.
His cheese burek is my Milwaukee favorite, which is good as our choices are fewer these days.
Call ahead as Petar is the only one that makes a burek unlike the rest of his menu.
We just got back from the Holiday Folk Fair and Bosnian Cevapi (sic). Just outstanding in part for a bread, lepne?
I asked where it came from and I was told that it is baked locally and sold at Europa Grocery on S. 27th.

Pie Diva's dream was to have a Peach Bellini in Venice, the drink's home. Finding a table to share Bellinis at the base of the Rialto Bridge exceeded her expectations.

Venice was very much a foodie city. We passed several shop windows on the trip from the ship to the heart of the city. On our first night in Venice, Bobbi and I had their version of tapas, cicheti. We stopped into a tiny wine bar and ate several small plates of finger foods with our Prosecco.

 

 

 
We purchased these gorgeous sandwiches before returning to the ship. Everything looked and tasted so good.

We got lost on our last day in Venice. We'd take different routes and kept ending up in the same place. These canals kept getting the way, too. We were getting nervous about returning to the ship on time, so we did a lot of back-tracking until we found a familiar place to begin our long walk.

It's all so beautiful and the food looks divine, but oh yeahhhhhhhhhh, I can see how you could get awfully lost in Venice. It all looks the same in so many places. " />Glad you found your way out and didn't miss your boat. One thing for sure, if you had stayed lost, you wouldn't have had to worry about starving!

If this doesn't look like Roadfood there is a reason. I am sharing some photos of the food we were served on the Carnival Sunshine. Both Bobbi and I were very pleased with the food onboard the Sunshine, a vast improvement from prior Carnival cruises.  We mostly avoided the banquet-style food in the main dining rooms and ate at the specialty restaurants.
 
Although we were cruising around Italy, we enjoyed the Sunshine's Italian restaurant, Cucina Del Capitano, enough to eat there twice. On our first visit, Bobbi ordered Gamberetti alla Pizzaiola - Grilled Shrimp with Stewed Mushrooms and Peppers, served over the Captain’s Tomato Sauce, topped with Garlic Foam, Charred Lemon and Parsley.


I had Brasato al Barolo. Braised Short Ribs in Rich Red Barolo Wine Sauce, topped with Crusted Almond’s and Olive Oil Cream. This was the winner. 

 
We also ate at the Ji Ji Asian Kitchen on two occasions. We ordered the Slow-Braised Pork Belly appetizer on each visit; it was really, really good. Caramel chili sauce with black vinegar, Pomelo citrus fruit, Chinese chives with gorgonzola, spiced purple onions.


Kung Pao Chicken - Sichuan peppercorns with heavenly facing chilies & cashews (I didn't write this, it's from the menu).


Blistered Beans with minced pork in extreme XO sauce.


Peppered Beef - Shen Li Ho (Chinese vegetable), bird’s nest, Chinese mustard, young garlic, ginger root, scallions.

 
We were also fortunate to dine in the Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse three times (we were compted for lunch on one occasion). I had a better experience and steak at this steakhouse than at any steakhouse where I have ever dined.  It is simply excellent. (Sorry, I never took photos there.)
 
For casual dining we really enjoyed the Blue Iguana Taqueria for breakfast and lunch and Guy's Burger Joint for lunch.  For all the criticism that the NY Observer reviewer gave Fieri for his Times Square restaurant, the burgers and fries served at Guy's restaurant on the ship were really good.  A huge improvement over other cruise ship burgers. Yes, they had all the goofy sounding names - Donkey Sauce, Super Melty Cheese, etc.

JR, I thought this was a picture of the side of the Pantheon in Rome. The buildings one the left look different, so I guess it isn't...........If you don't get lost around every turn in Venice, you wouldn't ever find the out of the way places. Bill - The photo was taken in Dubrovnik, which isn't too far from Rome in the big scheme of things. You're right about Venice, we made some great finds down those side streets/canals.
