Candy Bar Poll
Tue, 10/26/10 1:42 PM
( permalink)
Snickers in front rounding the first turn... My vote for Mounds seems diluted by it's brother Candy Almond Joy, but combined they still don't equal Snickers pull, of which I am somewhat mystified. And Payday is unloved in poll land, I guess. We need a favorite regional candy bar poll after this, though the Spud Bar is sure to lose.

Snicker bars out sell every thing else 2 to 1, we have to have two rows in all of our vending machines. I'm not even sure they is a close second. I think snickers gives people what they want, Chocolate, caramel, nuts....Bill

Snicker's is tactilely pleasing. It gives you the smooth chocolate, creamy nouget, sticky carmel and the bite of the peanut. The perfect meal. (Like Rocky Road)

I do not know how it is possible that my favorite still-existing candy "bar" is Peter Paul Mounds. I detest coconut in every form and fashion, with this single exception.

Does anyone think that M&Ms don't taste the same as they did a few years ago? Love Mounds, but they eat too fast for me.

mar52 Baby Ruths are coated with chocolate colored wax. That reminds me of a bar that was popular in the Philadelphia area for ages - Goldenberg's Peanut Chews. There were lots of peanuts, and they were very chewy, but the chocolate coating and chewy candy had little flavor compared to the national brands. But if you kept at it, they grew on you - seemed more like food than candy.

Michael, when you bought your candy at the corner drug store because it was cheaper on your way to the .25 cent matinee. The Peter Paul Mounds and Almond Joy were not the top choices, they were to easy to share. I was thrown out of the Movies one time at 9 years old, I hit a kid in the eye with my Sugar Daddy, man was I in trouble. They made a good weapon and they lasted all day.......................

we used to throw crackerballs up on the wall at our Wednesday morning matinees during the summer at the Fairway Theater-just down the block from the late lamented Leona Yarbourgh's. No payday love, huh? Maybe non chocolate bars are a whole different category.

Is Kit Kat a bar? I tried to write them years ago when they were doing limited time only flavors. I really think that they should make they with a malted milk layer. OMG!

Now if they can figure out how to turn M&Ms into a bar... Actually, the reverse is happening, isn't it? All sorts of candies are coming out as "pieces."

I certainly never heard of using it in a sandwich. And when I was buying them it was just Sportsman's Bracer -- the word chocolate wasn't on the yellow wrapper. I loved them because they were bittersweet chocolate, not that sickly sweet milk chocolate. Oh, and there was just a single bar per package.

Michael Hoffman Well, if you liked it, why not order some Sky Bars from Amazon? http://www.amazon.com/Necco-Sky-Bar-36-count/dp/B000FNCXL6 Or don't. It's not the same bar, by a long shot. I used to close my eyes as I ate each piece, and always knew automatically which filling was which. With today's Skybar, the fillings are virtually indistinguishable from each other; even the peanut barely registers. Bart

Great concept, poor rendering. I clicked "Kit Kat" as my vote, mainly with their Dark Chocolate option in mind. But I know my absolute favorite is Coffee Crisp, which has been the reason for our many daytrips to Canada. More than a few times when the customs officer has asked what my reason for a visit was, I've replied, "Candy bars and all-dressed chips." Chris
