My 14 yo daughter came home from a party with all sorts of goodies. First, the "dots" on paper that you pull off with your teeth (usually) and bits of paper come off too so you eat that. What are those candies called? Dots? (what about gummy dots that are much bigger and are also called Dots?) Next: Candy necklaces. Hard small discs on elastic to wear around your neck. And chew on. Next: wax bottles. Little (wax bottles) with florescent flavored syrups. Its great to see this 1950's stuff still lives!

retro candy is making a big big comback. bottle caps, chicklets, wax lips, wax bottles, astropops, good-n-plenty, gold mine nugget gum, circus peanuts, mallo cups, mary janes, pop rocks, sen sen, whistle pops, ...all the old stuff. it's great to see. although I think us big kids are buying it more for ourselves than for the little kids.

Years ago those were called "shoe button" candies, since (as I'm told by my now 86 yr old mom) they resembled the buttons which were used years ago on ladies shoes. And yes, a bit of the paper going into your mouth with those things is an integral part of the experience!

I know one that won't be regaining its former popularity: candy cigarettes.

This topic reminds me. So, what's happening with Bonomo? They still haven't returned emails! Has anyone had a positive reply from them yet as to when they will start production?

What memories this brings back! Loved those dots and the necklaces -Mom used to give me a quarter and I'd have a so many sugary treats to bring home from the 5 & 10 - and you can't forget the Pixie Stix!!

I just bought an assortment of Novelty candy, it included the candy cigs, although there was no mention of the word cigarette or smoke, but they were in the same little box, and still tasted like.... I wish i could find the ones that puffed those were cool.
