Can't find the candy I want.

I'm trying to find the candy described below. I bought it years ago from Nagel's Candy Barn in NJ and also in a candy store on Cape Cod. I'm trying to find out where I can by it now or maybe even get a recipe for myself to make them at home.

Candy: It was heart shaped around Valentine's Day no bigger than a half dollar and was cinnamon flavored and mostly made with sugar (I assume). It was easy to bite in to and melted in your mouth with a slight granular feel to it. For Christmas they made wreaths in red, white, and green. I believe both the white and green wreaths were mint flavored or something similar. The red wreaths were cinnamon. Again, easy to bite and melted in your mouth with a slight granular feel to it. I called up Nagel's but was told they don't carry the candy any more because the company that used to make it went out of business. If you know the candy I'm talking about, please let me know where I can find it or be able to provide me with a recipe. Also, if you know the company that used to make it I might be able to do some more research.

Thanks!

It does sound like French Creams. The Vermont Country Store has them, though not in the shapes you remember. You can see a detailed picture and description on their website. (Just click on the picture of the French Creams on the right hand side.) http://www.vermontcountrystore.com/jump.jsp?itemID=38&itemType=CATEGORY&path=1%2C2%2C5

Your description of the consistancy reminds me of maple candy but cinnamon flavored. Type in maple candy in a search engine and maybe you'll come up with something similar. BTW when I was a kid my parents would buy all of our Easter candy at Nagel's Candy Barn. Sometimes Critchley's in River Edge,NJ. Anyway, I hope you find your candy.

Thanks for the replies! Do french creams actually have cream on the inside? The candy I remember had the same consistency throughout with no cream, just a granular sugary feel.

Try www.blaircandy.com. They may have it. They specialize in some old-time, hard to find candy.

French Creams is just creamy sugar .. grainier on the outside .. same thing as the maple ones .. just different flavors .. no cream inside

Thanks, I've purchased some of the Christmas French Creams from Oliver's to check and see if it's the kind I'm looking for. I appreciate the help.

You might try the Miles Kimball Company. You can order a catalog or shop online at mileskimball.com. Every Christmas, the catalog has exactly the little candy sugar wreaths you've described. I think they are very reasonably priced as well. Good luck.
