I enjoy watching lacrosse, there is even a pro team in the Chicago area. Here it's not an official sport but many high schools have a club team.

As former residents of Cental NY, we are thrilled........many from our family graduated from SU. My daughter in law graduated from Lemoyne and my nephew used to be head lacrosse coach at Cortland. He is now assistant coach and Orange’s defensive coordinator so we are very pleased!

my nephew is at SU, his girlfriend is at LeMoyne. As a lifelong lacrosse lover, and CNY fan, this is a good weekend. Let's go CNY! - and congrats to Cornell! It's great to see them doing well, again. Now, all we need is Hobart to rise to prominence and join SU and Cornell at the top of the lacrosse world. I still think it's a travesty that SU will be in the Big East in lacrosse. Some history will be lost as they will lose some storied match-ups to meet the Big East scheduling.

Isn't lacrosse that game where men run around in short pants and carry sticks to protect themselves from male cheerleaders?

Greymo No, MH. Lacrosse is the fastest sport on two feet. Try telling that to a hockey player.

Wow what an incredible game...Cornell controls and dominates play for 95% of the game, up by 3 goals with 3 minutes to go, and I figure well good for them they played their game and deserve to win. Then SU makes 3 goals in wild transition play to tie, stealing the ball in the overtime period, 3 great passes and Cody Jameison slips it in. Great to see a Nations kid score the wining goal.

For the unenlightened, I found this clip of some of the Powell brothers on youtube. Clearly showing men running around with sticks and short pants...no male cheerleaders in sight...looks like a pretty quick game too, and no ice to slip around on.. www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9Zytgixk6g

I was initially rooting for SU. But, at the end, Cornell won me over, and I felt terrible for them. They outplayed SU for nearly 57 minutes. And SU, on some pretty lucky ball bounces, claws their way into OT and steals the Championship. Desko is a great coach, but in some ways, I think he was outcoached in this game. SU winning had less to do with coaching, and more to do with the tenacity of the players. Cornell came in with a great game plan - the same one they used to beat UVa, and nearly pulled it off, if not for a couple lucky bounces, and a Cornell defensemen that should've just chucked the ball forward, or way up in the air, instead of running with it through the zone. I'll have to email my buddy, who has two degrees - one from Cornell, the other from SU, to see who he was rooting for.

I'm not so sure how much luck went into it, but it was a well played game by Cornell. I think SU just had that extra bit of hustle at the end, sort of a case of making your own luck. Having said that the behind the head pass to Abbot, whose pass was deflected by the defenseman to Nims, was pretty lucky...awsome to watch though!
