Charging Extra for Tomatoes, Lettuce, etc

Hello All, I have a short lunch break and often hit fast food places. Usually I go to Burger King and order a whooper junior with tomato, mustard, mayo and lettuce. I am charged for a whooper junior, $.99. I have went to McDonalds and order the same thing. Usually they charge me $.89 for a burger with tomato, etc. But the other night I went to McDonalds and they charged me an extra $.30 for the tomato and $.15 for the lettuce. I ask the cashier what happened. I've never been charge for those before. She said they should have been charging me. And then she said they are going to raise all their price soon. Does anyone know their pricing policy? Have I been lucky before by not being charged extra for my tomato and lettuce? Thanks, Take Care, Fieldthistle

I have been charge less because I always ask for no lettuce, tomato or onions on my burgers. Just don't like the taste of them on a sandwich but I have no problems with them as a salad.

Wendy's used to do this all of the time. Of course, that was back when the burgers were actually good (actually hot 'n juicy) and the "single" was less than a dollar.
