Charlie's Pool Hall, Alpha NJ

My wife and I stopped at CPH on the way back from a funeral in Wheeling WV on saturday night 11/8. This has got to be one of most unusual eating experiences we have ever had. Got lost a couple of times and John needed to "bring me in" by cellphone. The brothers were as cordial as could be and raved about fellow roadfooder esp. John Fox and Buffetbuster. We were the only customers and had the Round Table to ourselves. John did join us( ate his 2 hot dog limit for the week)and told us the history of CPH. The dogs and Grandma's Sauce were as advertised on Roadfood and other web sites.

Let me say to all of you roadfooders(especially hot dog lovers) CPH
is a once in a lifetime experience and should not be missed. There is not another place like this in the world. Sure it is hard to find but it is worth the time and trouble. Be sure to give the brothers a call to make sure they are open.

    sodawater-
Thanks for the report and so glad to hear you enjoyed it as much as you did! Eating at CPR earlier this summer was one of my all-time favorite Roadfood experiences.

While I certainly understand their fondness for John Fox, I am very surprised that they would mention me. I have only been there one time. And although I did tell them I was a Roadfooder, I only identified myself by my real name, not my screenname. That is very curious!

During our visit, the Roadfooder they raved about was joerogo!

My apologies to Joe and John. It is Chalies Pool Room not pool hall. I couldn't even get it right while looking at their business card to make sure I had the correct information.

What brand of hot dogs do they use?
I'm hoping all beef, but I have a feeling it's a porky one...

Geez, they even take off the same days I do, Sunday and Monday..

Charlie's Pool Room serves 10 to a lb. Kunzler Pork/Beef Grill Franks, cooked in a frying pan on the stove.

I am the proud possessor of an empty box of said dogs, given to me by Joe.

I'm only about 1 1/2 hours away and always looking for a reason. Ready for a "Meat-Up"?
