We will be having a mini meet at the one and only Charlies Pool Room in Alpha NJ on Mon Nov 12th .

Hot Dog Fans rejoice!!!!

Charlies will open that day only for our group of Hot Dog Lovers and all are invirted

Noon - 2pm

Hello all ,

This was fantastic !!!!
Charlies Pool Room is certainly one of a kind .
John and Joe the owners were as friendly and gracious as could be .
We were treated as if we were some type of B celebrities , a distant family member stopping back home for the first time in years instead of a customer having a dog or two .

Thanks to everyone who attended , John Fox for driving , Coney Island Lou who reveled in the sauce as did I , Screenbear for the great company . and of course Tony for making the trip .

Also we celebrated an early 80th birthday for Seafarer John , cake thanks to Brooklyn Bill and

Ginny . Gail a pleasure once again . HAPPY 80TH JOHN !!!!!

Dave Puro , Akavar and Fontaine thanks for the hospitality in your home area .

I will post more in the Misc foods sect on the trip . Photos were taken so we shall see where they end up.

And to finish off , quite frankly the best Hot Dog eating experience I've ever had . It was that good .!!!!

This is an old post, but I know that Joe & John keep a copy of it on their table in the pool room.

I was traveling from Stroudsburg to Allentown yesterday so I stopped in for some Mealies. Basically I'm posting these pictures just to make everyone jealous.

Even with navigation you could miss this very unassuming building.

I was only here once before and Joe remembered my first and last name. Even though they were busy we had some great conversations with Joe. John was busy cranking out the dogs.

I did not know that they kept a copy of the post for all to see .
I do have to get back to Charlies real soon.
Hope you can make our Hot Dog Tour in sept , I think you will enjoy it.

My hot dog eating exploits have been curtailed dramatically due to recent lap band surgery , but a visit to Charlies is a must .

I happen to have the first week in June off for VAC , so I might try a midweek visit around that time .

Benzee, Thanks for the invite, I am interested in the tour but will have to wait until we get closer to the date. Hope all is well with your recovery.

I finally made it to Charlie's Pool Room on Saturday. From reading all the great comments about the place here in the forums, I had high expectations. And both my cousin Johnny and I loved the atmosphere and the mealies.

Joe and John were gracious hosts and since we were the only customers at the time, they had plenty of time to chat with us.

I am going to write much more about it in my trip report, but I am a CPR convert!

Hey Buffetbuster ,

We may try another mini meet again in Nov after the Jersey Hot Dog Tour .
Last year we celebrated Seaferer Johns 80 th birthday and do not see why we cannot celebrate number 81 there if he is willing.
Either way another mini meet is in the works at the most fantastic spot on the Eastern Seaboard .

Hey Chiliman , we just made our reservations to attend the Annual Bobby LaBonte FanClub gathering the week of the Charlotte Race in October .
The fan club meet is that Thurs , we hope to stay from Mon to Fri in the area , than head out before the race Sat night
Give me the locations you will be at that week and we will make sure we get that dog . You have a fantastic setup and with Joey being a year older ( gonna be 4 in Dec) we have found the traveling much better .

Hey Buffetbuster , we do all the trips on a Sat usually , last years CPR meet I think was a Holiday and they opened just for us . You should join us in Sept , its a Sat. You will meet the likes of John Fox , Coney Island Lou , Screenbear , Joe Rogo , Hot Dog King and many more . Let me know if you want to go .

You have so much to do with organizing the tour I'll let it slide (I'm joking just in case it's not apparent from the post) . My wife's name is Laura, not Linda. Same first and last letter, different middle ones. I understood what you meant but I don't know how she'd react.

Benzee. I myslef am an alcoholic and the only thing that helped me was to give it up. You obviously have your own personal beliefs, but trust me, i cant go in a bar.

Benzee, I didnt meavn to be cold or heartless. I was thinking(or not) from my own point of view and how the procedure would scare me. I will delete it and please forgive me. I had only meant that I would avoid a similar surgery like walking of broken glass. Again I wasnt thinking it thru.

Thanks for the reply , had I been able to email you seperately I would have .
I understand your struggles with an addiction every day . The operation itself seemed to scare family members more than I . I may talk about Hot Dogs and tours a lot on here but I do know my restrictions .
Again , it is now more about the camraderie for me .
