Cheese lovers: Wegman's 5 year gouda

This cheese is amazing. Honest; it is like sex. The flavors and aromas hit your tongue, and just keep going and going. Unreal. If you are a cheese lover and in the northeast, give it a try, you will not be disappointed. Wegman's 5 year gouda

It does have depth and complexity. Smokey, creamy, rich. I, too, was suprised at its quality. They were giving out samples, and won a lot of praise at the tasting table.

Mosca, what does the fine print on the label say? I wonder if it's possible to get the cheese through an outlet other than Wegmans. Brad

The taste just explodes, and it keeps changing as it hits different parts of your tongue. There's almost no way to describe it. Screaming Chicken, there is no fine print that i know of. The round is marked as "Wegman's" and the wedges are individually wrapped and labeled (and I'm at work now).

Upstate NY is dairy country. It's one of the largest industries in NYS. I would suspect, that Wegman's is using one of those dairy farms to make the cheese expressly for them.

Thanks, 6star; by the descriptions, that's the stuff! The Wegman's is priced in between those, at $14/lb. "A unique crunch, due to white, crystalline specks that are a product of the cheese production, creates a finish reminiscent of Parmigiano-Reggiano." " The exploding flavors of butterscotch and caramel that define this cheese..." "...this one simply has to be tasted to be believed. Aged for a full five years, this gouda is both intense and complex. Like a fine wine, maturity has been generous to this gouda, lending it nuances other cheeses only dream of. A beguiling array of flavors tease the taste buds and leave you wanting more of this very special item." That's it.

If anyone could, he could! I was thinking about asking at my local cheese store, too. I'm overdue for a visit. Brad
