Chicago Dogs in STL Airport

I just flew into/out of STL Lambert this week and I noticed on the lower level (baggage claim) between the A & B gates (across from Starbucks) there is a Carvel/Heavenly Dog spot. I didn't stop to get one as I was flying in from Chicago and had been to my favorite Italian Beef/Hot Dog Place, "Little Joe's Restaraunt" http://mistyowl.com/route66/il_countryside.htm They advertised Chicago Style Dogs and a Union Station Polish. The pictures looked like the standard Vienna Beef photos of a CSD or a Maxwell Street Polish but the Vienna Beef "V" advertsing sign was a Blue "V", not your standard Mustard Yellow Vienna "V" that you see in and around Chicagoland. You don't ahve to go through security to get to it either.

I am confused what you mean by not the mustard yellow "V". Vienna's V is always Blue, sometimes with a yellow box around it. Or, unless it would be black and white... I went to the link, they look like they're official to me. AHH! sorry, rambling, I am a graphic designer.....

Seems like an odd place for food, unless people have long waits for their bags. If I eat in an airport, it's in the gate area waiting before or between flights. Once I hit the lower level (baggage claim), I'm on way way out and I don't stop to look for food.

I can't speak for this airport, but they're real strange about food now, some of 'em at least, since 9/11. It depends on how the set up was/is, and if the layout now conforms to security needs. Sometimes the food wound up on the wrong side of of the security line. In Philadelphia, for example, you can't hardly get something to eat unless you've got a ticket and are in the gate area. Oh, there's a restaurant in a hotel on the premises, but that's not the sort of thing most of us want when going to the airport. We want dogs, pizza, knishes, sandwiches, tasty, surprising finds, oddities of the food world, etc. Roadfood Excitement! The Bear

At O'Hare you can't even find a bathroom, much less dining till you get through that security debacle. And you can't smoke- anywhere, in one of the busiest airports in the country. What a pain in the butt O'Hare is.

WG, Sorry yes you are right, the "V" is blue, but in the Chicagoland area it is surrounded by the mustard yellow box. In the St. Louis airport it seemed the whole theme was blue, so it just made it look, well weird and out of place.

At least in the United terminal on the lower levels (baggage claim) there are some on each end and in the middle right next to where the exiting pax's come out.

I plan my trips with layovers in smoking-friendly airports whenever possible. This NEVER includes O'Hare!
