What does everyone think of these? I'm a big fan of this candy although I like the coconut/peanut butter combo. THe best version I had of this was the homemade zagnuts I purchased last fall in Blowing Rock, NC.

Nothing like a fresh bag of Chick-O-Sticks, although they're extremely nasty when they go stale.

My grandmother called them "Chicken Bones".

That was their original name! They changed it to Chick-O-Stick in 1955 after someone quite rightly realized that the original name was, well, nasty.

I love Chick-o-Stick and they are fairly easy to find around these parts. I just wish Atkinson's other products were easier to find in California. I love those Peco bars. I like Zagnut too, but the only place I can find them is in those mall bulk candy stores such as "The Candy Factory."

I recently "scored" both Chick-O-Stick & Zagnut candy bars at a local Family Dollar Store. If there any Familly $ stores in your area you try them if your looking for either of these candy bars. Atkinson still makes the Chick-O-Stick and Zagnut is now part of Hershey, according to the labels on those I just purchased.

I ran into these for the first time on my recent roadtrip and feel in love. I'm a huge peanut butter fan. They're all over the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. I want to make it out to Baldinger's in PA sometime, they're still seeing true penny candy! Any Abba-Zaba fans out there?

I've never had a Chick-O-Stick, but they're available in my area, so I'll try one soon. I love Zagnuts, haven't had one in forever. EatingTheRoad, I've wanted to try an Abba-Zaba since I read about them in Steve Almond's great "Candyfreak." How are they?

Oh they're amazing....if you like peanut butter...it's essentially taffy filled with PB. I like them softened up a bit so it's not a chore to eat 'em. What's everyone's favorite regional candy? I've yet to try a SkyBar, any huge fans out there?

Love them but why do I search for one that isn't broken and then bite in to it?

My uncle used to distribute Abba Zabbas in LA in the 60's/70's. He's give us tons of them when we would visit. I have the fillings in my mouth to prove it. I don't think my old teeth could handle them now. I did try one a few years ago and there's not so much PB in them anymore.
