Chips at 2500

I guess I have a big mouth because I have finally reached 2500 posts. I would like to use this post to reflect on what Roadfood.com has meant to me. First of all, thank you to Jane and Michael Stern and Stephen Rushmore for creating the site. The Sterns have changed the way I travel because I always check the website to look up good places to eat before I go anywhere. Like my college professors Ken Nolley(cinema) and Roger Hull(art) they have made my life immeasurably better by opening my curiousity. Thank you Mr. Rushmore for opening the site. I would also like to share my appreciation for those who have come to Portland or taken me to great places to eat in my travels. Bill Voss and family have been boon companions and have become family friend. The annual Chips family treks to the Ashland Shakesperean festival are infinitely better now that we can also see Bill and family. Gregg in Seattle, The Edge here in Portland, Elise T here in Portland, BT in Tucson, have also been fun. Steve k(Travelin Man) has been fun here in Portland and Nashville. Of course Steve shares my religious heritage, my fanatacism for baseball, and my off the cuff spirit , so he has an advantage over others in creating exciting culinary adventures. I also can't say enough about the pleasure of meeting so many of you on the Nashville road trip. The only reason I am not naming names is I am deathly worried I will forget someone and be unintentionally neglectful. To all of you I met last weekend, thank you. I've come to the conclusion that almost all roadfooders are simply friends I have not yet met in person. To those with whom I have shared e-mails and forum exchanges, thank you. I am more tolerant and a lot less hot -headed than when I started 3 years ago. Thanks to all of you. The pleasure I get from this site can not be overstated. I look forward to more years of interactions and joy from all of you.

mr chips- Congratulations to one of my favorite posters on your 2500 posts and becoming a Filet. It was a pleasure to meet you in Nashville and I look forward to seeing you again on future Roadfood trips. By the way, I took a tour of the Minnesota state capitol on Saturday and like most of them, they have portraits of past governors adorning the hallways. The painting of Jesse "the body" Ventura has him leaning on Auguste Rodin's The Thinker sculpture. Good stuff!

Congrats on your milestone. Enjoyed meeting you in Nashville! And looking forward to Portland for doughnuts or oysters in July. Be sure to check out the Mayor's picture collection of the tour. I've named you "most photographed roadfooder". Keep posting the interesting reads! Darlene

Yes, I have noticed your mellowness... tolerant/less hot-headed, and I don't like it.... your taking all the fun out of we folks that lean to the conservative side of Off Topic & "Lighter Fare". Did I say lean.............. lol ............ Hell.I'm up to my azz in conservatism.

It's true. It's true! Sizz is the most conservative man in all of San Jose. In broader terms, what that means is that he is somewhere to the right of Dennis Kucinich.
