Chocolate Covered Blueberries Sat, 10/1/05 8:17 PM (permalink)

I don't know if chocolate covered blueberries are a common item as I do not eat much candy. They are new to me though. My wife brought home a package of Queen Anne Milk Chocolate Covered Blueberries from the local Rite Aid drug store. It was love at first bite.

I am sure even better versions exist. Anyone have any suggestions for my quest for the perfect chocolate covered blueberry product?

If you have a Trader Joe's store in your vicinity, you can locate this item there. However, I do want to point out I have not sampled them, because this version uses milk chocolate, and I only like "the real thing"--namely dark chocolate. But, if you crave the milky variety, I am confident that this product will be of high quality, as are all of Trader Joe's other products.

For the best choc covered blueberries you should go to your local homemade candy/chocolate store. I tried them for the first time this summer and its the best thing I have EVER put into my mouth. Simply amazing.

Another retail venue (especially if you want to send a gift to a friend) is L.L. Bean. They offer chocolate-covered blueberries, packed in an attractive tin. The berries (unfortunately) are coated with milk chocolate and then with "White Chocolate" colored with blueberry juice. As any aficianado of chocolate can tell you, "White Chocolate" is an oxymoron. But, still, if you crave blueberries coated with some kind of chocolate product, this is another offering.

I discovered choc covered blueberries in a gift basket I bought for my wife. Couldn't find locally, so found excellent version from the Chicago Chocolate Factory online.

Have sent them to several family members, Christmas/birthdays...and they are a big hit. Don't last long, either.

Best chocolate store I know of: Coblentz in Amish country, Ohio. Very yummy stuff.

That information is helpful, but I have a question about these two sources. Are their blueberries covered with The Real Thing (dark chocolate), or are they coated with the milky variety?
