CiCi' pizza ( Dayton,Ohio)

I guess Cici's Pizza has bit the dust in Dayton,Ohio. My Niece Andria was going with her company's employees to Cici's for the annual bowling awards and found out the hard way it was closed ( drove up and sign was on door ).
I thought their pizza was ok but what drove me nuts was the ppls at the door welcoming the guests, loud enough to be heard across the street haha and upon your departure 'CICI ya later', after several times of this, I never went back.

Restaurants chains that close with no warning usually hit the local news media. A lot of scuttlebutt is revealed in comments left on the web sites of local newspapers and TV stations. Here are a few stories from Dayton media:

One franchisor, unamed by Cici's corporate, owned 4 Cici's in the Dayton market and all closed down without warning. Cici's corporate said it was due to the economy, and that corporate was looking for a new franchisor to take them over. Now, I doubt I even have to bother telling anyone what I think about Cici's pizza. But a lot of kids seem to like it and the price is unbeatable. With restaurant analysts saying that budget restaurants are doing well in this economy and Cici being a currently successful franchisor, this is more of a business story than a food story.

it's a cheap way to feed kids that don't know the difference between pizza and the stuff CiCi's sells. For me, I had one small slice and decided to stick to the salad. The group of teens from NC were happy as could be and it kept the school trip within budget. This was in 1999. I haven't been back.

Their thick pizzas actually taste a bit like pizza - the thin are wasted calories.

I went once because some friends had coupons and insisted.  The pizza was not good but the cinnamon rolls were edible.  Just processed rolls but still not bad.  We have not been back.

The apple cinnamon dessert pizza is pretty good also. I usually fill up on the salad bar while the Grandzillas eat pizza and play the games. Taco, hot wing, BBQ chicken, mac n cheese, and even the spinach, are faves of my bunch. They also like the mixed drinks. You can mix whatever sodas you like.

NYP, your right. The thick pizza is almost like a real pizza. The pasta w/ alfrado sauce is also not so bad.

The closest store is in Arizona.

They sure are taking their time.

Ate there in Texas.  They don't have to hurry.

The only time I went to CiCi's was with a large group of DeMolays and Job's Daughters - they were in heaven, but then this is Kansas and they wouldn't know good pizza if it bit them.

I've never been back (my daughter never asked to go back either).

I can Ci that many of you have not tried their BBQ chicken pizza. Or the salad bar. They had some real good fresh tomatoes on my last visit. I complimented the manager.

Don't get me wrong... I would never go there w/o at least one kid... and some extra change for the games. :~)

i95, that was a good one! I've never eaten at CiCi's, but I've seen their commercials and, even on TV, their pizza looks unappealing. Add to that my strong dislike of buffets, and you can see why I'll never be a CiCi's customer.

They advertised in the Chicago area on TV for at least a year before they started showing up. We have one in our town but I have never seen anyone in it. They have a sign now out by the road that says 3.99 for the buffet now.

BESIDES the shill.

Taking it one step further, the 1PizzaCoupons site refers you to the ShopAtHome website where you must register (and if you check the fine print under "Terms and Conditions" on that site, you discover that members of ShopAtHome can get a $5 "Referral Commission" by getting others to sign up at ShopAtHome!)  This all sort of reminds me of a pyramid scheme.  What do you think?
