I have a friend who was a manager at my local skyline joining us on the crawl. He is a coney head! He is looking forward to it.

arianej My husband and I are interested, but we'll have to check on the date to see if we can make it-- his schedule is pretty busy with school and everything. But my vote is to put more emphasis on independent chili parlors rather than the chains. There's only so much chili I can eat in one day, and a person's gotta prioritize. ;) I'd also like to put in a good word for Mike's Chili and Gyros along Rte 4 in Hamilton. Unusual name, but they do a tasty chili (and an awesome 1/2 lb. burger, in case anyone needs a change of pace). Really? That's good to know! I drive by that place everyday and never gave much more than a second glance. I'll have to give it a try... I have seen Jungle Jim's mentioned here several times - we are very lucky, we only live a few miles from there and we get to shop there every Saturday - what a place! We might be interested in the Chili meet up as well mr_melvis

I've only been to one other independent chili parlor (Blue Ash) but seem to recall that in comparison, Mike's seemed to have more spices in their chili. Not hot, per se, but flavorful, with more of a noticeable hint of cinnamon, which I like. If we're not in the mood for the Cincinnati chili, my husband usually gets the gyro with feta, and I get either the jalapeno cheeseburger or the chili cheeseburger, which requires a knife and fork to eat. Sinful, but worth it. ;)

CK Put me in for "tentative" for now. The airfares just went up I was hoping to get either a free r/t or one way ticket due to circumstances beyond my control, that may have changed. I'll keep you updated and will let you know if I can attend.

The date for the Cincy chili tour is coming up fast and I am so looking forward to it. From conversations I have had with WJ, it doesn't look like he will be able to make it. So, it will be just Mariton and I driving in from Pittsburgh.

CajunKing, I wish that we could join you all, but that's the weekend that Amy is graduating here in CT. We'll be thinking of you, though, and you better take these folks to Graeter's for pretzel cones! That reminds me about posting that logbook... Oh, and you may want to spotlight some place for goetta for those who haven't tried it. Chris P.S. You'll love Mariton, by the way -- she's hilarious and so sweet!

ayersian- Camp Washington Chili is the only place I have ever had goetta, so those who want to try it will be able to. If it is on one of the other chili parlor's menu, I will probably order it for comparison's sake.

ayersian Oh, and you may want to spotlight some place for goetta for those who haven't tried it. Chris The first 3 stops all have Goetta on their menu. I will think of you and Amy when we get to Graeter's we will have a toast to her graduation, with black raspberry chip ice cream.

nocarolina was talking with us about the chili crawl you guys are going on... wish we could be there to participate. I have had Sky Line chili once before and the spice of it caught me off guard. Is it my belief that Cincy chili had a greek flavor behind it??? I mentioned to him about wanting to put together a BBQ crawl in Lexington over a 2 day period. LOL, his comment was "Good God, there's 26 BBQ places here". I still would like to plan something like that if we can get enough people together for it. I will post about it under BBQ in the next day or two. Dennis in Cary

arianej, thanks so very much for the Googlemap of Cincy. It'll make Saturday's chili excursion much easier ( I tend to get lost a lot. )
