Circle K's back east??

Hi, We east coasters are so familiar with 7-elevens and wawa's etc...but when I visit relatives out west, I noticed Circle K's all over the place. About two years ago, I thought I noticed one on Rt. 9 near freehold...but it is gone! Are Circle K's located in the east? What's the eastern most spotting of a Circle K? I like then! leethebard

There's one about 1/2 mile from my house near Grand Rapids, MI. They replaced Diary Mart (which replaced Stop 'n Go) a few years ago.

Circle K is the United States' largest company-owned convenience store chain, and second in overall number of U.S. stores to 7-Eleven. Some Circle K stores operate gasoline pumps selling Union 76 branded motor fuels, others sell Mobil, Marathon, BP or Shell branded fuel. Until mid-2006, nearly all Circle K stores in South Texas sold Citgo branded fuel, however those stores have dropped the Circle K name and now operate as Stripes Convenience Stores and are served by Valero branded fuel. The chain operates internationally, branching into other continents such as Asia. In Hong Kong and Taiwan, the store is called OK in reference to the circle around the K. Circle K was previously in Great Britain, Canada, Australia and New Zealand as the food store portions of many Shell stations. The chain is primarily located in the Southern, Western and Southwestern U.S., and within the past couple of years expanded into the Midwest when the Circle K name replaced Couche-Tard brands Mac's, Bigfoot, Dairy Mart, and Handy Andy. Most recently, the company has acquired the 90-store Spectrum chain serving Georgia and Alabama[1], and 35 Sterling Dairy locations in Northwestern Ohio source: Wikipedia 2008

Circle K's: closest one is one lone store on Panama City Beach; about 25 locations in Pensacola. 7-11: 325 miles to Orlando to get one's Slurpee fix. They tried to open up stores in the Florida Panhandle in the '90s, but they were all gone within 2-5 years. Interesting story: Deltona Corporation, known for housing communities, etc. opened up Sunny Hills (25 miles north of Panama City) in the mid-'70s....the only store close by that was opened in SH to serve the growing community: 7-11 (although it too was gone by the beginning of the '80s).

They're big in Florida. Based on my experiences there I don't think they'd succeed in the Northeast. The employment pool doesn't include enough toothless, mullet-headed, grammar school dropouts to keep the places open.

Actually, I haven't EVER seen even ONE employee as you describe down here...do they really exist up where you live? Mostly I see well educated people from India behind the counter. Really nice people, they are...friendly, clean and polite...and they'd never insult ya either!

leethebard, The first Circle K I came across in New Jersey was the convenience store portion of a Mobil station on US1 in Princeton. I went inside, but it didn't look like much of a southern or western Circle K. It looked like they just licensed the name, like Coleman outdoor products licenses their names to eyeglass frames sold at Lenscrafters. Go figger. Superpages.com still lists seven Circle K stores in New Jersey, but I don't think they trade under that name anymore. I seem to remember that they were all in Mobil stations. Where the big sign out west says Circle K, in new Jersey the big sign said Mobil.

I think it was on PA 97 (or was it PA 505?) between I-90 and US 20. It was just a c-store and didn't have a gas station, tho'. It might have been a Dairy Mart in the past.
