Does anyone remember Circus peanut butter? This would have been in the 60s and 70s. Every once in awhile my younger brother, who loved the stuff when he was a kid, talks about how much he misses it. I would love to be able to find a jar, even an empty one, to give to him.

I remember the commercials, but I think they were radio commercials. The guy sounded like he had mashed potatoes in his throat when he sang about Circus Peanut Butter. I know this doesn't help.

At least someone else remembers. I don't remember any commercials at all but I do remember the jars.

Not sure, but it may have been one of the Leavett (sp?) brands. I think I have seen it within the last 5 or 10 yrs.

Maybe it was sold to Baron Corporation (Ontario, Canada) and is now imported from India...? I have a jar of Circus Brand peanut butter and that is what the label is indicating... Don't know if it is the same "Circus" peanut butter you are referring to...

It came out in the late 60s, and I loved the stuff. I was just a kid then, but for some reason, over the past week, I've been singing the jingle in my head.

"Snap off the top, it gives you a greeting....."

It was packaged in round plastic containers with a snap off lid. Wonder what ever happened to the brand?

That was our brand growing up in the sixties.  We loved it.  I don't recall but the family lore is that they changed the recipe and we finicky kids would no longer eat it so we switched to Skippy.

These days I eat Smuckers all natural and sometimes Crazy Richards.  I can't stand anything with hyrdogenized vegetable oil.  yuck.  "Peanuts and salt" is all I want to see on the label.  Oddly enough there was a spell when I was quite young when my dad was out of work and we were on "relief" as it was called back then.  We got government surplus food including peanut butter which had as ingredients "peanuts and salt" but back then we hated it.

"It comes in a jar made of plastic.
                It's a plastic jar.
                It's either creamy or crunchy.
                In a plastic jar.
                Snap off the top

Cannot recall the rest of that cute jingle, but it ends with
                "Circus Peanut Butter"

If this is the peanut butter that came in a large bucket with a handle & a lid, my grandparents had it in the 70's. The bucket was a cream color with balloons on it?

jmshumakersr, you might find this website interesting, even though it is probably not really very helpful in your quest:
