Classic Coke.

My wife came home with a 6pack of coke classic today. It was 8 oz glass bottles in a cardboard holder like the old days. I half expected it have cane sugar but it was HFCS.
Is this a temporay promotion?

Depends. Coke 6 pack 8oz bottles are common in the southeast states and somewhat less common in the northeast. Sprite, Diet Coke six packs are common in the south and I think rare in the north. Barqs 6 packs can be found in Florida and the Gulf coast states. Dr Pepper six packs are found in certain pockets along the east coast. I don't know about west of the Mississippi for any of the these although I imagine Coke Classic can be found if you search.
Coke is doing a limited series of retro bottles. There was a six pack out around Christmas (not the usual Xmas release) and a four pack of retro bottles showed up about March.
So, six pack Coke Classic 8oz green bottles are an everday item if you live in an area where the Coke bottler carries them. The retro bottles of Coke are a one time promotion.

In Texas, Coke can be found in 8 oz glass bottles at all of the chain grocery stores. They sell from $4-5 dollars a six pack. You can get Coke in cans on sale 5 12pks.for $11.00 You can also get 16 oz glass bottles from Mexico. $1.29 ea. They list both sugar or HFCS. Dr Pepper bottles, from Dublin Tx, still uses only "Imperial Pure Cane Sugar". for around $4.00 a six pack.

    Hello All,
I find bottled 8oz cokes in a few stores,
but the bottles aren't really glass, but
are a dense clear plastic that really seems like glass.
    Take Care,

Yipee! In China can get the 8 ounce at most stores. Having worked for Coca Cola in US I can tell you its the real thing. You can only drink it on premises but at 14 cents a bottle its so good.

Unless its some kind of super spaceage plastic, they have to be glass. I havent heard thal "tinkle" when they bump each other in many years.
BTW, The bargs in bottles are at kroger here all year round.

My wife also said there was no deposit. Have we gone so far into plastics that the bottles are no longer a deposit item?

I buy beer in bottles and none of them are deposit. I think that some of the bottles that are sold to bars may still have a deposit on them, but I could be wrong. I don't think any of the soft drinks in bottles have a deposit, except for those states with bottle laws.

I like soft drinks in bottles too, but with the cost of a six-pack of eight ounce cokes, I think I'll pass.

Not sure about a 6-pack, but Coke is currently selling 4 packs in the old style before the hour glass coke bottle shape. And, unfortunately, it's just a promotion for the old bottles, not the coke. I bought a 4-pack expecting the same thing, but alas, only the bottle is replicatiing the old coke.

I prefer the 8oz bottles when drinking coke. Due to limitations on sugar intake, I can't drink a big gulp worth of coke, so an ice cold 8oz bottle is perfect size and not watered down at all with ice.

Now, with diet coke, the super big gulp is quite appropriate for me!

Here in AZ. we can get Coca Cola from Mexico with real cane sugar. What a difference!! They are sold in 7.5 oz glass bottles in the convenience stores.

Bottom line is why change it at all? I was in the service and the rumor was that due to the need of "denurted" coca leaves was producing way to much cocaine! Some of the powder was eaten up by the pharmacuticle compasnies, but what about the rest.
I still drank coke only but was always disappointed by it
