Clever accident with 3 Musketeers
Mon, 12/13/04 12:11 AM
( permalink)
Hey all. Last week, I bought two bags of fun size 3 Musketeers bars to satisfy my chocolate craving. I absent-mindedly put them in the freezer instead of the fridge, and of course, came to my senses a little too late. What resulted was a frozen bar, with the whipped nougat center somewhat hardened, and the consistancy like a Charleston Chew. At first, it was a struggle to bite into them, but as I continued to enjoy them anyway, I got used to the frozen state. Now I don't think I can go back to room temperature :)

I like them from the fridge better than the freezer, but hey, it's chocolate. Can hardly go wrong.

My mom froze the milkshake bars. She even put a stick in them. She still does it for my dad, but I'm not sure if she uses Milkshake bars anymore. I don't know if they even make them anymore.

OH MAN-- what a memory you just brought back to me.. when i was growing up - my mother would buy my father a package of the large (regular size) candy bars ( that i don't think they even sell anymore...) and they would go in the freezer.. he liked milky ways, three muskateers and snickers. we kids were never allowed to take one without asking bacause they were such a treat..but my father, being the push over that he was, never said no when we asked.. but we didn't dare take it without asking.. thanks..... miss those days... :)

Walt, yup, we use to swim at a lake in Wellington Ohio, and the snack bar put sticks in them and froze them. How yummy. BTW, the stick really comes in handy when the bar starts to melt.

This has been my favorite candy (and my downfall at times) since birth, probably. I don't care what state it's in -- frozen, melted, room temperature, half-eaten...I gravitate towards the sight of one as if in a trance.

That's a good diet plan too. It takes longer to eat a frozen bar, so you can't eat as much.

Have you ever put a 3 musketeers in the microwave? It's pretty funny. Don't ask me why I did this. It was one of those college curiosity things, but the result was pretty astounding. Not very edible though. Just entertaining.

I put a 3 Musketeers bar in the microwave, and didn't observe anything unusual. After removing it, the candy tasted the same as if it had not been put into the microwave. Even though you said that I would observe something funny, it was not comical in any way that I am familiar with. Am I missing something? Since you did not specify turning on the microwave oven, or heating the bar in the oven, I am assuming that just placing the candy in the micowave will cause some kind of change--but I didn't observe or taste anything unusual. Why doesn't this work as you implied that it would? Should I buy a new microwave oven?

Heck, grab a bag of popsicle sticks at the local craft store, shove one in your favorite candy bar lengthwise, and freeze. this was the treat of my childhood, the snack stand where we went camping sold milkshake bars like this.
