Close To Start-up Time, A Few last Questions

I should take delivery of trailer this week. I have food sources lined up. Doing the food manager cert. this week. Have several insurance quotes. Who/what insurance do you guys use..?? Getting my website developed. One other thing (and I have done the search on this), you guys that are free-standing self-contained units....what do you do about credit/debit cards...? I know there are rates, percentages, use fees, etc., but if I did decide to accept credit cards with a wireless set-up, am I planning for an early failure...? Only you guys know. Thanks, curtis

Pops, Thanks. What I was really wanting to get to is "who", the company, writes the policy. I don't want a fly by night outfit. Stae Farm has said they donnot do it. It's 2009 now and things are in constant change. I wanna be up to snuff on what the best company's to consider are.

State Farm will do it, you just have to find the right agent. I have a commercial policy on my trailer and truck, inland marine on the equipment and liability all through State Farm at a reasonable price. I did call about 3 SF agents before I got one that really did the ground work and got me the coverage I need. Good luck in your endeavor...

I know it changes from state to state but my State Farm that I have been doing buissness with in N.C. couldn't cover my cart. One reason was in N.C. there's no title or registration or DMV #. The company that did write me Liability was American Reliable,Scottsdale Az. Hope this help's.

I would ask everyone here who ever used their liability insurance. I have been in business for 15 years and never had a claim. I look for the lowest price. Its insurance not cemotherapy, I knocked off $450 this year and I don't care if its Mickey Mouse club Liability insurance............................

I have never had anybody ask to pay with a CC or Debit card. All cash here. Most of lunch orders are under $10. And the really big car dealers sales meeting lunchs just want a receipt. 16 sausages and a few hot dogs. They give me time and they pay cash. Guess, you look small don't have to act big. My prices aren't over the top, just trying to feed the common person. which is me.

Great info folks. This what makes this forum what it is. Real time people, real time response. I don't plan on going credit/debit right off the bat. I AM going to start calling State Farm folks here and find someone who can do it. I also believe that claims are few and far between. If we do our part, what could go wrong ? The roots of all U.S. insurance was from back in the mob days. Still is best I can tell. thanks curtis

Just do what seems to come together. My God man if having a Top Dog Cart, show them them the Love. People will love what you do. BBQ, Sausages, Bangers, Irish Stew, Brisket, Hole in toad. Throw darts, Guiness draught cart, Fried green tomatoes. Can go on but have to go build carts.

Just a note about taking plastic. You have to figure in the charge to you on each transaction. Some places limit the use of cards to a dollar figure. The drive thru down the street form me has a $10 minimum. The same with Famil Video, which is a local chain. britt

Technically, it is a violation of the vendor agreement for an establishment that takes Visa or Mastercard to require a minimum purchase. The customer can complain to the bank that issued his/her credit card or to the Better Business Bureau. Although Amex and Discover don't prohibit minimum charges per se, they don't allow vendors to impose a higher minimum on their cards than are imposed on other cards. I know many establishments do this, but it is a violation of the contract terms. Most customers don't realize they can challenge it.
