Or a rebel without his claws (or clause, as the case may be -- sanity clause?).

I, too, have always found it funnier when a joke is explained, Grampy.

Uh...I'm not too sure that this is the site that wants to doubt the existence of large bearded men whose "favorite casual eating posture" is one that least challenges gravity.

Just a minute, i-95! The rules as established by a member in good standing of this forum said, ONE WORD PER ENTRY, and you used two words and are hereby DISQUALIFIED and in danger of being DISSAPEARED from these forums for flaunting the rules!

"RECOILTH" - it must be in the King James version of the Bible...

What, sj? Did you take the entire three-day holiday weekend to think of that one? I recoilth at the thought. I tell you what. You want my Oscar (Meyer) award? Then pry it from my cold, BBQ-stained, dead hands.

Victory will be mine in life and in death. So sayeth in Duderonomy. (You know, the same Biblical section where they daily throw around the word "recoilth" as in "one shall recoilth from sitting in the arena's section VXII lest there be a disciple holding a 'John 3:16' sign'.")

I request of the Chair a showing of hands- a vote- on this simple question.

A. Should the nefarious and devilish cheating self- declared winner of the Jumble contest be allowed to keep his ill-gained prize?

B. Should the unselfish and innocent Seafarer be rightfully declared the winner with his scripture inspired entry: RECOILTH?

All right (and left) thinking Roadfooders will have no trouble in making the correct decision - the choice between devine inspiration and a voice from the netherworld...

hmmm... So Andy Devine has been your inspiration all this time, SJ. Them's mighty Slim Pickens....
And anyway, if we HAD been playing scrabble, the devil would have had to draw more tiles. he could have gotten Q, X, and Z all at once. Let's see him Beetlejuice his way out of that one.

In the words of the great Roberto Duran, "no mas, no mas!"

I hereby reliquish my title and all that comes with it. I am not worthy. I shall step aside. I shall bid adieu to my moment in the sun for I have never, ever, ever in my more than four decades on this planet witnessed a greater stroke of utter creativity than seafarer john labeling himself as "unselfish and innocent."

Honestly, sj. Geraldo Rivera blushes in your presence.

Keep up the Lord's work, sj, for as it is written in Exodus, "if thou be resting on his laurels then he shall be wearing them on the wrong end."

...but before we do, I wanted to share this photo
of myself, Geraldo and seafarer john (right):

Yeah, I know. Most people online mistake us for men.
sj's open-faced misogyny usually is the culprit but make no mistake about it,
we are two bold, beautiful and brainy women.

I've just recieved an informative email from dear clothier, regarding his new employment and the changes in his life. I-95's fantastical posturing over Clothier's activities now are all lies.........pure lies!

His long time empathy and close affiliation with PETA mixed with his good fashion sense, has inspired him to create his own corporation: "Puss in Boots Clothiers and Habedashery", a company dedicated to serving our animal kingdom friends. Already this has become Forbes Magazine Top Ten Best Bizarre New Entreprenuerial Ideas of the Year 2004.

Clothier's Puss in Boots plans on making it's Paris Catwalk debut this fall with some toothsome yet practical accoutrements....such as these:

.....oh la la....for those sultry summer nights.

And an example of it's fine haberdashery:

An audience member goes in raptures at the new line in a preview show held at the Ypsilanti ,Michigan City Pound:

Employee benefits at Clothier's business, mirror the benevolences of the Ben and Jerry's whole person corporate approach:

Employees are treated with weekly massages, biofeedback, pedicures and manicures and other stress reducing measures:

Free Lunches are provided for by the company, thus promoting well being, nutrition and camaraderie amongst employees:

Motivational meetings encourage productivity, cohesiveness and formations of common goals:

After the 5 oclock corporate whistle blows, employees and management alike are found letting off steam and furthering deep, workplace friendships at the company's own bar and grille, "The Watering Bowl"

Homeland Security measures have not been forgotten here either. "Puss in Boots" has bragging rights to the best swat team security specialists in the national corporate arena:

Our friend, Clothier has spared no expense in the well being of his employees. Truly inspirational.

Clothier realizes that this is a risky adventure and a bit out of the mainstream and that if this venture fails he's likely to be a victim of this sad ending:

.............but gifted with the ability to save his derriere' if kitty et al couture doesn't catch on, Clothier has formulated a contingency plan of branching into accessibility products such as this one on the drawing board now:

All in all, Clothier seems to have his life on a productive and happy path........
