I noticed a new little coffee house in downtown Chattanooga last night on Market St (or else it was Broad). It was called "Bad Ass Coffee House". I didn't get to stop in as I was on my way to Big River Grille. I love coffee houses (not Starbuck's or Panera, please). We have a number of really good ones in Knoxville, downtown, near the university, and in the Old City.
Got any neat places in your city?

If it's the "Bad Ass Coffee Company" then it's just another chain. We have one here in Cranston RI [|)]

Chicago Tribune reported today that one of these stores is getting a hard time from the town of Antioch (far north Chicago suburb) because of the name.

Wow, I had no idea it was a chain. It was housed in a building which used to house a neat little Thai restaurant. But, I bet you are right,it is a freakin chain! Oh, well.

I'll try anything once. I suppose I do harbor a bias against chain establishments, but I do not hate them. I thought this place looked pretty neat as I was driving by, and Chattanooga has a lot of neat restaurants and coffee houses in it's downtown area. I'll give it a try, sure.

They have one in the Salt Lake City Holiday Inn too! Just 'cause it is a chain, doesn't mean it is bad. Our local place in Worcester Mass is Java Hut, sort of a teen hangout.

My two local favorites here in East Greenwich RI are Main Street Coffee and Cafe Nepenthe. Main Street Coffee has a pseudo Italian Bistro Atmosphere and has a great French Roast and delicious pastries while Cafe Nepenthe has fantastic organically grown coffee and has a more earthy-boho atmosphere.

Here in Anchorage we're a mish-mash of all kinds of folks and everyone flocks to Starbucks. My favorite coffee shop is Caffe Vittoria on Hanover St. in Boston! While waiting for your table at The Daily Catch across the street you can have a nice cold Peroni beer. After your meal of fried calamari, black squid ink pasta, Lobster Fra Diavolo, you can waddle across the street and get a lovely espresso!
