I am one who finds Pepsi sweeter and less fizzy than Coca Cola. Either is fine for me. I even like the Sam's cola and Meijer's Encore blue or red which claim to be exact clones of Pepsi (blue) and Coke (red). If I ever identify my one major weakness in life, it will be that I am a Soda-Holic.

I guess I'm a whore in this dept. I like both. Ordinarily, I have to pick up Coke for the house, since Teresa hates Pepsi. But, I remember my uncle in Moline, IL, always bought cases of Pepsi in those cute wooden crates, with the bottles that you would return. In the crate. When I was visiting there, (from Texas), everything was different, but it was OK. Different bread, different peanut butter, different soda... Forty years later, I still recall those flavors.
Today, when I go to Tommy's here in LA for chili fries, I go straight for the canned Pepsi. With a straw. I think it may cut the grease of the chili better than Coke. Seems to be well carbonated, too. And I think they charge about $.65 for the can. They don't have ice, or paper cups, period. I think they just recently started carrying plastic bottles, but I think the cans are actually better, they keep the stuff really cold, and there's something effective about the straws, kind of shoots the drink into your greasy gullet.

Oh, I forgot to mention, someone asked about soda for breakfast, and it is hard to beat a really cold 6 & 1/2 oz Coke first thing, while you are still scratching your parts. Of course, I am from Dallas, so a Dr Pepper works well, too. Again, in the small bottle.

I LOVE my diet pepsi, definitely more fizz, it doesn't go as flat as fast as Diet Coke does either, and it's not as sweet. But when it comes to regular soda, nothing beats an ice cold Coke

I would say the exact opposite for my taste, and I also like regular Coke better than Pepsi. I am curious though... I don't think I could tell the difference between the two if I were blindfolded. Do you think you could?

I agree with the people who have found Pepsi to be the one that tastes sweeter than Coke. I also find Coke (even Diet Coke) to have a "caramel" like taste (which ironically, I don't find as sweet or as cloying as Pepsi's or Diet Pepsi's taste).

Also, when traveling abroad, I rarely drink Diet Coke, which is all that I drink at home. I find that the regular Coke is a real taste treat when I drink it in Europe or Latin America. Guess it must be the sugar cane sweeteners, instead of corn syrup?

Oh, I actually forgot to mention that I have participated in a blind taste test between Pepsi and Coke...while statistically it might not be very significant, I did pick the Coke out right away, again, due to that pronounced caramel-like taste that Pepsi doesn't seem to have....it makes Coke taste "fuller" to me, somehow.

    tacchino,
I also did a taste test years ago..and I too picked my favorite, Coke...it also has a pronounced citrus taste.
I am told only Coke is made for regional tastes....more syrup in the south...more seltzer in the Northeast. Does anyone know if this is still true?

For me, unless I can find some made with actual sugar, both taste like a chemistry experiment to me ... Local brews for me when I go that way.

    Now its Caffeine-free Diet Coke.

I prefer Pepsi but I never drink it because if I get started I want to drink about six cans a day. So I stick with Coke because I don't crave more.

My palate isn't sophisticated enough to even notice much of a taste difference. All colas seem to have varying tastes to me, dependent upon the serving temperature and whether it's from a can or a bottle.

If I want a cola, I want it just on the verge of freezing when the ice crystals are just beginning to form. Coke, Pepsi, RC, Sam's, it doesn't matter.

Diet Coke. But even Pepsi is better than the generic "cola" some very respectable Roadfood restaurants serve.

Growing up, I much preferred Pepsi. Now that my company does business with Coca-Cola, I will drink that. But truthfully, I might only have one or two sodas in an entire month.
