At $100.00 a barrel for oil the same amount of coke syrup would be over $512.00 for the same size barrel, 42 gallons to a barrel...feel better about oil or worse about Coke?

Just out of curiosity CTW, what do you/your staff say when a customer orders a Coke and your product is Pepsi? I've been in lots of places where they just say OK, and then serve the other product.

Coke is almost a generic way of saying, I want a carbonated cola, we have never had a problem with Pepsi/Coke, Coke/Pepsi, then again we have a huge selection of sodas, not to mention Old Dominion Root Beer on tap, which is hugely popular. We also sell a bunch of bottled water.

If they don't have the Pepsi I order, they should tell me so that I can order something else. I drink Iced tea. I drink coffee. Heck, I've even been known to quaff the occasional beer.

We always tell them, no need to have a soda sent back, like the guy who sent back his Sprite because it was too cold!

Yeah, that the trouble with Sprite. Sometimes it's just too cold.

I recall , not too long ago, buying Coke Syrup in our local Drug Store. It was on the shelf with the TUMS and other tummy-settlers, in a 2 or 3 oz cough syrup-sized bottle. We haven't seen it for a few years, maybe the FDA put limits on the claims to medicinal values??? Most places I ask for Coke (generic) and if the place is a Pepsi location, the server asks (with two words) "Pepsi, OK?". Same sort of response to Janet's Diet Coke request.

Cola is the generic name ... Coke Cola ... Pepsi Cola ...

...and that's with high fructose corn syrup (aka corn sugar). Imagine the cost if it was made with real cane sugar!!!

If sugar wasn't subsidized and protected in this country we'd be using it instead of HFCS. I knew people that would go to Tijuana and bring back bags of sugar. It was that much cheaper. When I was young I drank Pepsi. As I got into my 30s I switched to Coke. Now I very rarely drink any soda. I drink a lot of iced green tea though.

Good for you Mike! Hope it's the plain type. I was able to get my husband off the Arizona green tea w/ ginseng & honey (and a whole lotta HFCS). Now he drinks cold plain green tea (just brewed green tea & water) and finds the Arizona teas way too sweet. We do enjoy an "occasional" coke or pepsi, but not very often.

In the Hispanic section of my supermarket they have Mexican Coke. It's made with sugar, no HFCS.

offlady ...and that's with high fructose corn syrup (aka corn sugar). Imagine the cost if it was made with real cane sugar!!! Corn sugar is corn sugar (usually labeled as corn syrup). High fructose corn syrup is a highly processed product which, at least according to current experimentation, confuses the endocrine systems of animals there is a high probability that it does so to humans, as well. There almost certainly is a threshhold level (a level below which the body's mechanisms can deal with it), and that level may very well be a very high one. Bart

Manufacturers of high fructose corn syrup want to rename it as corn sugar because the public is shying away from products made with HFCS. So renaming it only confuses the consumer but it doesn't change the ingredient.

Someone told me Coke syrup is fabulous over ice cream. Has anyone tried it? I'd like to get my hands on some to give it a try.
