My wife and I will be staying at the Sheraton Inn and Suites on the north side of Columbus. Any suggestions that would be convenient to the hotel and not a chain? Thanks in advance, Rocky

There are some instances of Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams nearby, and it would be well worth your while to enjoy their amazing ice cream.

Kind of depends what you are in the mood for. You will be right off the outerbelt so there are a lot of chains but you won't be too far from a few good spots. Give an idea of price range what you like and maybe I can help.

Price is not really a concern. I probably want to keep in under $100. That being said if we can get a great meal for under $20 that's all the better Thanks, Rocky

Not being from Columbus I am not sure what pizza joint or liquor store you are referring to....a little more info please. BTW we are going to Schmidt's Sausage House on Sunday so maybe something on the lighter side for Saturday evening would be good.

Rocky Enfield BTW we are going to Schmidt's Sausage House on Sunday so maybe something on the lighter side for Saturday evening would be good. Good, Schmidt's is not the best German Restaurant I've been too, however I enjoy the atmosphere of the place as well as the neighborhood, German Village and the cream puffs alone are worth going there.

I would Highly reccommend the Thai Lagoon on Schrock road if you like Thai. The location in an old hotel is a bit off putting but the food is fantastic. I went for take out and stayed for two hours. Slow Racer

OK. The Top Steakhouse on East Main Street in Columbus. It's an old-school steakhouse with very good steaks (and the veal chop's not bad, either). If you don't want to travel that far, Ocean Club at Easton. A really good greasy spoon breakfast? Almost directly across the street from the Top is the Grill & Skillet -- but it's open just till 2 p.m.

A short report. We got to Columbus later Saturday evening. After 4+ hours in the car decided we didn't want to drive far so we went to the Columbus Fish Market near our hotel. Not exactly traditional roadfood but a delicious meal all the same. They have an extensive menu with a lot of very appetizing looking choices. We looked over the menu in the bar and decided what we wanted and then when we sat down they threw us a curve by showing us the prix fixe menu. A choice of house or ceasars salad, a choice of 3 entrees and either a fudge brownie or creme brulee for dessert for only $19.95. We decided to go for that and both had the cod with shrimp and lobster stuffing. It was very good. My wife had the fudge brownie and enjoyed it and I had the creme brulee. It was silky smooth and absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. For Sunday lunch we went to Schmidt's Sausage Haus in the German Village. It was good. We both had the buffett. I liked their sausages but not the best I have ever had. I really enjoyed the sides they served including the sauerkraut, hot german potato salad and the green beans with bacon, spaetzel and plenty of pepper. One word of warning the sausage stew is much spicier then your typical stew. We split a cream puff (Chocolate) for dessert and left full and happy. I would probably go back again but might want to try others first. It was a beautiful day so we really enjoyed walking around the German Village and exploring some of their shops. Overall we enjoyed Columbus and wish we had more time their. Maybe next time we can try more traditional roadfood
