Comfort Music

Forget Comfort Food !!! I'm in a border-line crappy mood today and I found myself putting on Graceland by Paul Simon ... One of the best, perhaps last, vestiges of a well-crafted album. Being deep 5-something, I naturally wasn't drawn to Brittany Spears or any of her ilk. Any other music you'd fell into as comfort MUSIC ???

WJ: How about a Canadian with some non pasterized apple cider from Apple Barn that Bushie introduced me a few years ago. A great day on the deck watching the coots and the mallards munching on the milfoil on the lake. The music was definately not relaxing but it helped my beverage. Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN

The comfort music I most enjoy are the old 45 RPM records I collected as a kid. They bring back a flood of memories. Perhaps the most comforting is Wonderland by Night an instrumental by Bert Kaempfert some 50 years ago. It takes me back to high school Christmas vacation, a winter night, snow falling, and cruising around in my 1954 Chevrolet, oddly after a date. Was time ever more innocent?

Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwoʻole ... I put him on a number of my Rhapsody playlists (including one or two devoted to deceased friends) ... I agree, his music is superb ... I knew nothing about him sorry to learn more about him and his demise at the same time.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccCnL8hArW8 Eva Cassidy, from the DC, Northern Va. area, cult following, powerful and hauntingly beautiful voice. Also passed away, way too early, over 10 years ago, in her early 30's.

Maybe this tune by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra will get your heart started. I played the tune on my CD wide open when our Miata groups was in the Christmas Parade. It was a blast. Maybe this will turn WJ on???? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkAhmH40kiM Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN
