We use bacon & cream to make New England Clam Chowder.  You, sir, are
just eliminating all the good stuff.  If a vote was taken at this moment i would have to say Nay.  And I am no naysayer as a rule.   

I think it may be a winning combination though I would like to hear more about the other ingredients.
You come up with some amazing food so I would love to hear the background behind this.

Sounds over the top to me, which means I think it sounds awesome. I'm thinking a cream base incorporated with rendered bacon fat and the liquid in a can of chipotle peppers, cooked until it reduces & thickens a bit & then garnished with a WHOLE LOT of crispy lovely bacon & Joe's excellent suggestion of grated cheese. I'm not sure I'd choose cheddar, but right now I am too sleepy to decide what I'd sub. & then there is always an alcoholic component to consider adding to this inspired idea of yours, CTF. Sherry? Beer? Keep us posted on your creative progress!

At first Cream of Bacon sounded strange, but I began thinking of adding real ham stock for background flavor, and now it's starting to sound good to me.  The question next is, what additonal ingredients or aromatics do you have in mind? 

Cream of Bacon soup over biscuits. Sounds like gravy to me.

I agree with Uncle Bigfoot. It would be close to my nannie's biscuits and gravy.
She used milk instead of cream. She served the gravy over toast and called it Arkansas gravy. Not sure why she called it that.
 
The soup sounds good to me. I would try it.

Chicken stock, bacon boiled in it, cooled, fat removed, bacon fried[leftover after boiling plus new crispy added, heavy cream, potatoes, Creme Sherry, yes joe, I'm going with Cheese, although it may be a 4 blend Mexi cheese I get at Costco, maybe a little ham stock, maybe a little celery, thyme, parsely, ground pepper, no salt,cornstarch for thickining ...just tweaking it now.
Hopefully will have it tomorrow, gotta get ready for the Redskins game!

By the way, I heard that you let Greymo's granddaughter starve near to death at her lacrosse tournament on Saturday.

Why not call it a Cheesy Potato & bacon chowder and even make the roux with the rendered bacon fat, I don't this is going to be on Weight Watchers approved soup list.....................

Great idea about the roux, I want the bacon name first but bacon potato chowder would work.

The more good stuff you add the more you end up with Chowder---New England Style.  Why not just start with it as long as you are going to end up with it.   I roux the day you deducted clams from clam chowder----gives me chills all over.

 I would certainly try this soup and maybe try to recreate it myself. I'd call it bacon and potato chowder. Maybe add a little sweet corn to the mix. Thanks for making my mouth water while I wait for my lasagna to cook. You sir are a sadist!

If you go with the Mexi-Blend, be sure to serve it topped with jalapenos.
