Concession Locations - Private Property

I live in an area that has several major industrial areas. I would like to operate a concession business at several locations. One being private businesses/factories, another Toys-R-Us parking lot- section never used, also Kmart parking lot. My main location would be the factory that is open 24 hours and has hundreds of employees. Has anyone done this? If so who did you contact and what did they require? what was your experiences? I've also seen vendors outside Lowes and Home Depot. Does anyone know about this? Seems like a good spot for busy people. I know i always stop at them when I am there. I am basically looking for daily locations, not events and flea markets.

I have contacted Human Resources at factories to find out if I could set up daily or permanently at a location. In my experience some will allow you to set up, but in some cases they will not allow you on the site, but may allow you to deliver lunches. Temporary construction sites are a good option too. I have had more success with setting up at that type of location although factories will sometimes let you come in to cater special events. HR should be able to tell you who to contact if they do not handle that directly. Good luck.

There have been some great post on selling at all the box stores both pro and con. In fact the address and contact phone number is in those post. You'll be reading for hours but you will gain some awesome information that may well save you from making the same mistakes that the rest of us have made. The answer to all your questions has already been posted and are here for the taking if you want to invest your time and attention. Good luck on your new venture. Jack PS I hated these commercials but this is so apprepo. LOL

Anything you can tell me to refine my search would be great.

quote:Originally posted by kland01s Just read back in this forum. Yes what he said LMAO. No it's not dodging I made up doging but it should have read dogging as in :to hunt, track, or follow like a hound <dogged her every move> b: to worry as if by pursuit with dogs : plague <dogged by his past failures> c: to bother or pester persistently <dogged him about his grades>. then it would have been a pun. Ok try this: Selling hot dogs, or selling hot dogs at Lowes and Home Depot, or vending at Lowes and Home Depot, selling hot dogs on private businesses/factories property. That brings up a bunch of post, start reading and every time you find a phrase, or question that applies copy and paste it in the search engine. You can of course copy and paste entries into a file that you can store on your system and by the time your done you'll have a book on selling hot dogs, and what to do, or not to do. Look for Hot Dog University and sign up ASAP. But always remember "Red meat is not bad for you. Now blue-green meat, that's bad for you!" Tommy Smothers Jack

In my area of the great United States some of the requirements are the same as other areas, some are differant as to each has its local laws. But some that are common are, you need to have permission to use a restroom, its distance is up to local Health Dept. Here you must be on private property, not on the street. The property must be approved Vending Site by the local Building and Zoning Board. Like the good Dr. said, wealth of info on this site. If you read prior posts, alot of times if someone here does not have answers they can tell you where to get them. Good Luck

I have a few good ideas of my own but understand there are legalities involved regardless. Thank you all. I'm really excited about this. I've toyed with opening a restaurant, which do very well here, but this seems like something that is flexible and good way to see what sells in this area. I read something about raw foods. Is this a county issue or is it more about the type of set up you have? For one of my trailers it will be a 16-18 foot with freezers, fryers, a whole kitchen basically. I'm wondering if raw foods have more to do with carts. I don't know I might be wrong.

Raw foods can not be cooked on a cart here locally. Only precooked. Like hotdogs. Items like chili, grilled onions must be heated or cooked in a inspected kitchen
