Concession insurance in Arkansas

I need to get insurance, QUICKLY, for my concession trailer, but I'm having a difficult time finding anything online. I've sent in a request from one particular insurance company that seems to specialize in concession trailers, but I haven't heard anything back. I have to have a 1,000,000 policy and being new to this business, I don't even know what that's supposed to cover! Any help would be appreciated. Dianna

Hey Dianna I put my info in for a couple of on-line agencies, and then made dozens of calls to local insurers... and my best deal came locally. So, if you haven't already, call around and tell them you have a concession trailer, you need 1 Mill general liability coverage, and do they offer this kind of service. You may get more bites. Local folks, I found, are not as overwhelmed by the rest of the world and are more willing to work with you. Good luck. Janice

I agree with Janski but you should reseacrch your municipal code thouroughly. Many towns ask for 1,000,000 liability and 1,000,000 property. Some ask for less. A lot of festivals are at the 1,000,000 range. Many towns ask that they and the city's employees be listed on the policy. Some also require a surety bond to be filed with the city clerk. This info is spelled out in your towns municipal code and you could also talk to the city clerks office for clarification. K.Brody

I not only run a concession trailer but am also a licensed insurance in Kansas. A $1,000,000 policy should run around $800 to $900 a year. Many agents don't want to fool with a broker and a small premium policy. There is a broker in Kansas City called Med James, Inc. They only work with agents so you can't call them directly. Ask around for local agents that deal with brokers and they should be able to help you. If they want over $1,000, they are ripping you off. Good luck. Mike S. PS: I'm not licensed in Arkansas so can't help you. Sorry.

Thank you for the reply's. I wish Konnie was licensed in Arkansas. I've filled out several online insurance requests, with no reply, and I called a local place this past Friday with no reply. I'm hoping Good Friday is the reason no one has contacted me. I need this by next weekend! Thanks again, Dianna

He is my underwriter and will do his best to help you. He can't sell to you directly but tell him where in Arkansas you live and he will see if he has an agent and a phone number near you that he can recommend and is licensed in Arkansas. Tell him Mike Smalley suggested you call and don't believe a word he says about me. Good luck. Mike S.

I live in Canada and I was in the same situation about a week or two ago. I called around insurance companies and the best quote I could get was $1000 yearly. Several insurance companies wanted me to pay this entire amount upfront due to the fact, I was told this by an agent, that the insurance companies know that a hot dog cart can not work throughout the year and they know the policy will be cancelled. Well luckily after shopping around for a day or two I was able to get a policy with $2,000,000 liability for approximately ~$90 a month.

I actually just started my business in August and am running for the entire month until I go back to University in September. The insurance company had me pay the first and last month, then, when September rolls around I can go ahead and cancel the policy facing only a small cancellation fee. The insurance company I am with is local to my city and as I said I'm in Canada so you probably don't have access to the same insurance companies I do.
