Congratulations, Jane

Congratulations on all your honesty, accomplishments, and the inspiration you provide to everyone. Just enjoyed and found most enlightening your Today Show intereview. While we are all fascinated with food, your interview makes us stop to think that there is really much more to life than satisfying our appetites. What a fine role model you are for everyone. God Bless. Liketoeat (PS typo/spelling corrections.)

For any of you who missed the Today interview with Jane, go to the website http://www.msnbc.com/news/936366.asp for lengthy report/transcript of this interview. This written form is also good to digest, even for those of us who saw the interview. PS/correction- I said the website contained transcript of interview; guess its really more selections from the book, but it does contain some info which Jane discussed in interview. Well worth reading. Again, an inspiration.

Hooray for Jane! It is about time a story like yours is told! As an ER/Trauma nurse of many years, I know the EMS workers are the greatest of unsung heroes. And they do it for no pay, or little pay, and they do it well.

I have always felt they do not get the respect they earn and deserve.

Wow. That excerpt was something else. That did it. I will have to read the whole thing now.

And here I always thought Jane was only my food inspiration...

Jane....you were wonderful on The Today Show and are an inspiration to all of us who are 50+. "Ambulance Girl" was one of those books that I couldn't put down. I so admire you for all that you have had the courage to do.

Just finished Jane's new book the night before last. It was very touching in parts, very funny in others. It takes courage to open up like that.

I did not see the program or read the book, except I read the portion posted.

Jane: You are the All American citizen. I only wish I had the time to do what you have done.

What I read, I really enjoyed.

I just went to the site and watched the video.

I am deeply moved. I am joyful that Jane has found this way of being at this point of her life. The video caught so much of the quality of her person (I talk this way; I worked with nuns for six years) that my son and I saw when Jane and Michael were in Cincinnati last year. (As we went from the theatre to the book-signing venue, Ian hurried up to walk next to the man and woman who had found his favorite restaurant, Mrs. Rowe's, for us; Jane looked down and just laid a hand on his head as he walked next to her. It was very sweet; I got a little teary. But then, I still tear up at the end of "The Wizard of Oz.")

I have been married for 18 years to a pediatric critical care burn nurse. To help, to reach out, to comfort, to be present at the worst moments of life is a special calling. I think we should all be proud to be associated with the work -- albeit a very different kind of work -- of Jane Stern. She makes us proud to be Roadfoodies.
