Connie's Cucina in CT??

Hi. Seeing today's writeup on Roseland Apizza in Derby CT reminded me of a restaurant my wife and I ate at in the early 80's on the way to a vacation in New Hampshire called Connie's Cucina and I think it was in Derby. I think it was in one of the early editions of Roadfood and that's how we knew about it. We stopped there for lunch on the way to NH. It was basically a one-woman (Connie, of course) storefront Italian restaurant. As I recall the food was quite good, but what we still talk about TO THIS DAY is the gratis Homemade Chianti that Connie offered us. Even though neither of us are big on wine with lunch, not to mention that we still had a lot of drving to do, how could we pass up the offer of free wine. Well, the wine must have been super-fortified, I had two glasses and my wife had one, and both of us were looped. I drove the short way back to the interstate, but even in those pre-concious days about drunk driving, asked my wife to take over. "No Way!" she said, I'm falling asleep. Good idea, we pulled into a rest area and took a long nap. We still laugh about what that wine did to us. Anybody know whatever happened to Connie's Cucina or Connie? A web search turns up nothing. Thanks.

The topic of Connie's came up last night at dinner (yes, we were having wine), so I decided to do a google search. All that turned up was my original RF post above, which never got even one reply. I figure, what the heck, unless it's against the rules, I'm bumping the thread to try again. Any of you CT people remember Connie's Cucina?

Hi Billyboy. Thanks for the research, but other than the possible lineage by name, I don't think that's the place. I'm pretty sure it was on Main St. I did some Google Maps lookups, and Elizabeth Street doesn't look like anything I remember, while this block of Main St looks familiar: http://maps.google.com/maps?client=google&rls=GGLD,GGLD:2011-10,GGLD:en&q=87%20Elizabeth%20St%2C%20Derby%2C%20CT&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wl Then again we're talking about almost 30 years ago, so both my memory and Derby CT may have changed considerably over the years. I'm sure the place we were in was too small to become a bar/restaurant, but "Connie" may very well have moved and expanded her operation at some point. Thanks again.
