We are planning on serving pre-made corn dogs at a kid's party in a few weeks. We need to find a way to cook the corn dogs the night before and warm them the next day without the skins getting soft. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Just buy up a few boxs of "State Fair" corn dogs and heat them in the oven.. If your cooking your own, then let them cool and refrigerate till the next day. Toss them in a 350 degree oven for 10 minutes or so (until warmed thru) then serve..

Talking about corn dogs. I've yet to locate a resturant or hot dog stand selling a truly great corn dog in New Jersey. Got a taste for them whilst in college in Iowa. Alas, haven't found a truly world class one in New Jersey. Anyone who can correct that?

But all this talk about corn dogs is making me crave one right now! Usually just get them at fairs and carnivals in the summer months..

Sunday for lunch I made morning star (all veggie) corn dogs. I used to love these things when I was a vegetarian. Something must have changed because I'm still trying to get the horrible taste out of my mouth. My kids who normally love hot dogs wouldn't touch it.

I used to eat the veggie corn dogs from time to time and thought them "better than nothing," and sometimes surprisingly OK. However, they're just about the same amount of calories as a State Fair real corn dog, whether beef or beef/pork. And therefore, why not do the real deal? I'm not a vegetarian, but I am always concerned about calories. In any case, no one has thus far suggested a good corn dog, let alone a great one, in NJ. I think I read that the reopened Nedicks in NYC has corn dogs. Has anyone tried one? The Bear

My brother-in-law practically lives on corn dogs. He should be fat, but he's not. I hate him for that. But, I don't understand his love for these things. I mean, sure!, a deep fried corn dog at the fair once a year is great. When done right, the out side is crispy, the middle is lite and airey, and the dog is hot all the way through. But out of the microwave? I just don't get it!?! If I had a microwaved corn dog, I think that would kill any chance of me getting a corn dog at the fair. Even the oven cooked just isn't the same at the fair corn dogs. but...that's just me. He loves 'em!
